‘X-Men: First Class’ Debut Trailer Inspires Hope
Posted by: | CommentsWhen I say this trailer ‘inspires hope,’ I don’t mean of nations or anything like that. I am simply referring to the fact this trailer proves an X-Men film can be done in a tasteful manner. No tight black leather suits, no stampede of hundreds of mutants, and no ugly Magneto helmet (I hated the helmet in the first films). This film seems to really focus on the two main opposing forces in X-Men, Erik (Magneto) and Charles (Professor X). While the first two films did indeed feature this dynamic, I think the writers’ inability to hone in on these two, and their obsession with having every mutant imaginable show up in each film, hurt the previous X-Men narratives.
While I haven’t seen anything resembling a final product or had an opportunity to dive into the story, I think this trailer should give any comic fan hope. Personally, I thought the first four X-Men movies were comprised of almost entire garbage. The first two less than the last two, but even those first two films had their glaring failures. When I imagined X-Men, the look in this newest chapter helmed by Matthew Vaughn is what I pictured. Hit the jump to see the debut trailer from X-Men: First Class.
Awhile back Barrett dropped word that Leo would be in the upcoming Clint Eastwood flick J. Edgar. The leading man will be playing J. Edgar Hoover himself, the bizare individual who founded the FBI. Today we get our first look at the film that is sure to be a hit with Eastwood and Leo on the same team. Hit the jump for larger pic of Leo, a look at John Turturro’s character in Cars 2, and a look at the X-Men: First Class logo.
First Footage of ‘Spider-Man Reboot’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes 2′
Posted by: | CommentsIf you want to watch Andrew Garfield (but really not because this webslinger is obviously a stuntman) jumping around as Spider-Man on the streets of Los Angeles follow THIS link. TMZ has the scoop catching the production an acrobatic action scene. Watching this part being filmed is really intriguing; I always find it fascinating how the filmmakers will piece this little tidbit of staged action into a whole to create something that feels real. Watch how the trucks back up to film the scene again. Alone it just feels strange; but pieced together through the wonder of film we will hopefully get something a little more organic in the end. Simply put, I love film production. After the jump you can also see the first footage on the set from Sherlock Holmes 2.
Bryan Singer Talks ‘X-Men: First Class’
Posted by: | CommentsIn the effort to stay on top of the X-Men: First Class news I would of course have to report the film’s Producer Bryan Singer commenting on the newest X-Men installment. Most current news about the film has revolved around the casting collage taking take place the past few weeks climaxing most recently with the addition of January Jones to the cast. The most insight into the upcoming movie however, comes with Singer’s comments in an interview with AICN that you can see summarized below. As you could derive from my first X-Men: First Class article, I speculate Aaron Johnson playing the role of Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. From Singer’s breakdown of the movie he clearly states that Cyclops will not be in the film. I think this is the prominent statement from the interview.
January Jones Cast as the White Queen in ‘X-Men: First Class’
Posted by: | CommentsWell, my hope that Alice Eve would be cast as Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class has been crushed. It was announced via Deadline that January Jones will be playing the character. My disappointment gets worse as I hear Jones has talent on the hit show Mad Men, but appears to be type-cast into her role as Betty Draper on the AMC program. Playing Emma Frost requires a bit a sass, something many devoted movie and comic fans do not think Jones can pull off. Sadly, I have not seen . But it is on my list of shows to watch, so sheath your pestering of my failure to watch the show.
Whirlwind of News Surrounds Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class’
Posted by: | CommentsA whole slew of news has recently dropped regarding X-Men: First Class. We have know for a while now that violence extraordinaire Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Layer Cake) will be in the director seat for this X-Men project profiling the younger versions of Magneto and Professor Xavier. This movie will feature the two men before they were defined by circumstances that caused them to go in two very different directions in human/mutant relations. Erik Lensherr, or Magneto as he is known, takes the route of mutant superiority. Charles Xaiver decidedly chooses to believe that humans and mutants can live in harmony and founded the School for Gifted Youngsters which in turn helps formulate the X-Men.
