Shia LaBeouf Stirs Things Up, Apologizes for Transformers and Indiana Jones Sequels
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s no secret that a majority of critics and movie-goers felt that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Indiana Jones and the Kindom of the Crystal Skull were disappointing sequels. It’s certainly hard to live up to the commercial and critical successes of a popular franchise when making a sequel, but rarely does the star of said films publicly say that “we could have done better;” especially when said films still made hundreds of millions of dollars, despite their lack of quality. Well, Shia LaBeouf is the exception to that rule, by publicly acknowledging to fans that the Transformers and Indiana Jones sequels of which he starred in, could have/should have been better.
Rabs’ Review: “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” Is Not Great, But It’s Fun

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (B)
Transformers is a movie franchise based on TOYS. If you’re expecting deep, thought-provoking dialogue and character development, you’re mistaken. If you’re expecting mindless, badass robot action for 2 and a half hours that gets you some relief from the summer heat? Then you’re right on the money. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is not a great film, in fact, it has several glaring flaws, including its elaborate National Treasure-esque plot, and Bay’s signature forced humor. But this is what a summer movie is all about. It’s got laughs, hot young stars and jaw-dropping/mind-blowing action and effects. What more do you want?
Terminator Director McG Calls Off Feud With Michael Bay
Posted by: | Comments
In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, Terminator Salvation director McG (NBC’s Chuck & Charlie’s Angels) and Transformers director Michael Bay, have been in a hilarious feud over the past couple months over whose robots are badder-ass. I’ll give you a recap, but you’d better buckle in, this might take a bit. Back in January, Michael Bay posted a comment on his website forum where he took a swing at McG’s Terminator robots saying:
“We’ve seen the great year end movies, and watched the upcoming clips of the upcoming summer fare. We’ve seen certain movies coming out even try to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads. Please, come on.”
Some Quick Tidbits

Terminator Mash-Fest!
• Warner Bros. has released nearly 60 new photos from Terminator Salvation which opens in 12 days. Photo left features Christian Bale as resistance-leader John Connor in what could be a manufacturing lab of the SkyNet killer machines. That’s just my guess. And at first I was skeptical about the PG-13 rating, being that all three previous Terminator films were R, but it looks as though this installment is still going to kick ass ant take names regardless. Check out the rest of the awesome pics HERE.
• WB has also released an extended 4-minute trailer of Terminator, giving us an ass-load of new footage of the upcoming blockbuster. As tempting as it is, I am resisting the urge to watch. I want to go in as fresh as I can (minus the photos and previous trailers). However, feel free to check it out and post your opinions below. Terminator Salvation opens everywhere May 21st.
• Yahoo! Movies debuted the final, epic, kick-ass one-sheet poster for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. JK, it’s actually quite lame-sauce.
Green Lantern Update
• A couple days ago I posted news that Wedding Crashers douche-bag (Sack Lunch) Bradley Cooper, was the front-runner to dawn the power ring for Warner Bros.’ upcoming Green Lantern flick. Well…90210′s Brian Austin Green and some other guy, are also reportedly in the mix to play Hal Jordan. BAG apparently is campaigning pretty hard for the part and has already done screen tests, read for the role and has even worn the green mask. That’s awesome! Hopefully BAG can rap the theme song:
“Yo, my name’s Hal Jordan, but people call me Green Lantern. I say I don’t have a power ring, but that’s just superhero banter.”
You might be asking “What the F are you talking about Rabs?” Well, check out the video below and you’ll see what I mean. It’s Brian Austin Green’s music video for his mega smash hit song “You Send Me” from his debut rap album One Stop Carnival during his stint on 90210 in 1996. (FF to :25)
This guy is on the short list to be Green Lantern???? Please God, tell me that is not going to be the one washed-up former teen heartthrob, out of thousands of possibilities of actors, that will be chosen to be the face of what hopes to be a kick-ass new superhero franchise. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Extended Footage Of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”
Posted by: | Comments
Blockbuster king Michael Bay premiered the first extended look of his inevitable mega-hit Transformers sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, at ShoWest in Las Vegas last month, where he was also honored with the Vanguard Award for excellence in filmmaking. He just released the same footage on his website MichaelBay.com. We get to see some awesome looks at the breathtaking robot action and special effects, as well as the developed relationship between Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf. The action looks sick, which is expected. What remains to be seen, is whether Bay’s claim of his robot sequel being “much darker” than its predecessor is actually true. The epic scale of the of the destruction and mayhem could allude to such a claim. However, the integration of routine & signature comedic elements, such as the relationship between LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky, and his trusty sidekick Bumblebee, could prove otherwise. Bay obviously has to have the comedy-action combo because it is present in all his films and has become a staple.
But why the switch to dark? Has it been Bay’s vision for his eventual trilogy all along? What would make it darker anyway? More deaths? More blood? I think a factor could be what I’ve dubbed as, The Dark Knight Effect. There’s no hiding the fact that The Dark Knight is my favorite film hands down, but it broke so many barriers and set so many new precedents, that its influence on future films cannot be debated. To have a film have with such dark themes of terrorism and extremely relevant moral, ethical and political issues, as well as being a record-breaking summer blockbuster, will make all action directors want to achieve a similar effect. I’m not saying that Bay is making Transformers 2 dark because of Christopher Nolan, (even though he did decide to film sequences in IMAX at the last second right after TDK exploded) but it could have had some impact on his decision to make the film more serious and dark. We’ll just have to wait and see. Either way, it’s going to be an awesome time at the theaters this summer. Mic check the new footage below, thanks to FirstShowing.net.
UPDATE 4/20 @ 6 pm: Michael Bay and Paramount apparently don’t want this footage to be seen by fans anymore, fore the footage that was previously posted here was removed.
“The footage has been removed at the explicit request of Paramount.”
As Michael Bay explains: “I just wanted the fans to get a taste of what we have been making for a year and a half because we have been so quiet. The piece was cut about a month ago for this ShoWest thing I accepted this past month – so as you can see many of the shots were far from being finished renders.”
Okay? Whatever. So there you have it. Sorry folks. But, until we get that new footage legit-style, here’s the OFFICIAL teaser trailer to wet your appetite.
