“Zuckerberg deleted Facebook and then killed himself………FOREVER.”
My friend Brenden posted this on my Timeline and it’s good for a chuckle. It’s a parody trailer for a sequel to David Fincher’s Oscar-winning The Social Network…The Social Network 2, via the YouTube comedy troupe Nice Nice Productions. The premise centers around Jeremy Hewitt who is dubbed “the most gifted Facebook user in the world.” That is until Mark Zuckerberg deletes the social network from online existence, forcing people to translate their Facebook behavior, offline in real-life. And it’s pretty funny. Check it out after the break.
Mr. Zuckerberg, do I have your full attention?
-No.
Do you think I deserve your full attention?
-I had to swear an oath before we began this deposition and I don’t want to perjure myself so I have a legal obligation to say ‘No.’
Okay. No, you don’t think I deserve your full attention.
-I think if your clients want to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try, but there is no requirement that I enjoy sitting here listening to people lie. You have part of my attention. You have the minimum amount. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients are intellectually or creatively capable of doing. (then) Did I adequately answer your condescending question?
This exchange between Jesse Eisenberg and a prosecuting lawyer is just one of the reasons I believe The Social Network is the front-runner for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The five Oscar nominations for Best Score have been announced for the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony. The list goes as follows: The Social Network by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Inception by Hans Zimmer, The King’s Speech by Alexandre Desplat, 127 Hours by A.R. Rahman, and How to Train Your Dragon by John Powell. All of these soundtracks are worthy of a nomination. I have a hard time zoning in on one soundtrack I want to see take the cake. However, I can give you some insight as to what exactly these soundtracks have to offer. That way you can understand where the competition is coming from within each soundtrack on February 27th.
The producing team that brought you The Social Network has embarked on its next project with Sony Pictures; Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, and Dana Brunetti are contracted to create Sex on the Moon (via Deadline). The film will be based off the original titled book by Ben Mezrich. In case you were not aware, Ben Mezrich wrote the book The Accidental Billionaires which encouraged The Social Network‘s screenplay adaptation from Aaron Sorkin. This movie may follow a similar path, although a Sex on the Moon screenwriter has not been announced.
So, what does Sex on the Moon have to offer anyways? Hit the jump to view the description Amazon has posted for the upcoming book.
Just like the end of 2009, I will wrap up this year with a top ten list of my favorites movies from 2010. Coincidentally enough, this post is on the same day as it was last year. So consider the top ten movies of the year posted December 31st as a new Movie Mash annual tradition.
Of course, I cannot give any insight into films I did not see this year. This list could be different if I saw every movie that came out in 2010, but unfortunately I didn’t have that opportunity. With that considered, here is a list of my favorite movies from 2010. I am sure some of you will have your own thoughts on a top ten. Read through mine, and tell me how little I know about movies if your list differs from mine. Hit the jump to check out the best movies from 2010.
Many of you checked out The Social Network this fall and were exposed to an amazing story told by screenwriter Aaron Sorkin and director David Fincher. If you haven’t seen The Social Network, you need to get out and do so; it is one of the best movies of the year. Those who saw the movie and are interested in film production or behind the scenes footage, the videos in this article are right up your alley. Even if you are not an aspiring filmmaker, the tedious steps of film production never resemble the smooth simplicity of a movie when it is ready for viewing audiences. Seeing what goes on behind the camera can help viewers to appreciate the difficulties of filmmaking. Hit the jump to check the videos out.
It’s gone on record hundreds of times since I started this blog that Christopher Nolan is hands down my favorite filmmaker. But coming in a close second is the great David Fincher. Yes, his newest brilliant film, The Social Network, is a universally acclaimed Oscar contender. But I fell in love with Fincher’s unique and mesmerizing visual style way back in 1995 with Se7en. He then went on to make some of my favorite films, all of which I own: The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. So I found this compilation tribute video, created by the folks at JoBlo titled The Art of David Fincher, to be particularly awesome. Check out the video after the break.

Now this is a movie I really really want to see. I love Facebook, and I’m sure this movie can instruct me how to cultivate my crops better in Farmville. I’m earning money like a serf (zero) and the bank is coming down on me about the mortgage! The Social Network, help me save my farm! Wait, this movie isn’t a Facebook instructional? I need help blocking someone updating their status seventeen times a day with crap like: “I miss my super duper awesome boyfriend so much because I can’t breathe without my pookie bear! I’ll see you soon baby! Only one more hour! Uggh, and what is Snookie thinking? She is so much better than that.”
Beautiful Full-Length Trailer for David Fincher’s The Social Network
Posted by: Barrett Goetz | Comments (1)A few weeks ago we posted the so-so teaser trailer for David Fincher’s The Social Network. As that film is set to be released in October, I reasoned then that we would get a full-length theatrical trailer soon, and now we have it via Yahoo! I was already really looking forward to The Social Network, but this trailer caught me completely off guard, by making this film look incredbily captivating, beautiful, dramatic and moving.
Last week we posted the first official poster for David Fincher’s The Social Network. As predicted, the first teaser trailer for the film was released soon after and is now online. The film is, of course, a semi-biopic of Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, and his rise from a lowly Harvard freshman, to one of the most powerful people on the planet. The story of the film is based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich. Check out the teaser trailer after the break.
