Don’t Forget About This 2012 Release Starring Ryan Gosling: ‘Gangster Squad’
Posted by: | CommentsAny movie with Ryan Gosling these days is worth seeing. Put him as a crime fighting gangster alongside some of the biggest and brightest in Hollywood and book seats at this year’s award shows. That’s what Gangster Squad screamed to me when I first watched this trailer. Gosling is just the tip of the iceberg however — Sean Penn stars as a ‘god-like’ crooked kingpin fighting against Josh Brolin and his team of off the radar enforcement in a Los Angeles story based on true events. Director Ruben Fleischer also has re-teamed with the gorgeous and very busy Emma Stone — the pair worked together on Zombieland. If this trailer is any indication, Gangster Squad is going to be a force to be reckoned with in 2012.
Matt’s Review: ‘Fair Game’ is Dramatic Dynamite
Posted by: | CommentsGRADE: A-
Remember way back when I posted an article about an upcoming movie called Fair Game? I was really excited to see the film as it stars the dynamic duo of Sean Penn and the gorgeous Naomi Watts. Well, the movie came out last weekend. Sad to say, it didn’t even crack the top ten at the box office (I didn’t expect it to) and hasn’t got any notice in movie-going circles. I had a chance to see Fair Game last week (the review comes now because school is my arch enemy) and it was the best film to hit theaters last weekend in my humble opinion. Yes, it was better than the entertaining Megamind and the deplorable Due Date. Sadly, hardly any theaters are showing Fair Game leaving people without the opportunity to get out and see it. So, I guess you could consider this a future recommendation for a Netflix rental.
Official Trailer for ‘Fair Game’ Inspired by the True Valarie Plame CIA Story
Posted by: | CommentsThe upcoming release Fair Game should not to be confused with the 1995 bomb starring Cindy Crawford and William Baldwin with the same title. The 90′s flick only banked $11 million on an estimated $50 million budget, scored a 13% approval on RottenTomatoes, and was nominated for Razzie awards for Worst Actress (Crawford) and Worst Screen Couple. The newest version of Fair Game stars the absolutely stunning Naomi Watts and Academy Award Winner Sean Penn (Milk). The project also has Doug Liman’s name attached to the director’s role, usually counting as a plus. His best works are: The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Swingers. The 2010 version of Fair Game follows the real life events surrounding ex-CIA agent Valerie Plame.
Some Quick Tidbits

● Now this sucks! Say what you want about Sean Penn and his political agenda, but the dude is an AMAZINGLY GREAT actor. He’s a two-time Oscar winner for Christ sakes! Unfortunately, Penn just announced that he’s taking a year off from making movies, to resolve “personal matters.” Last month Penn filed for a request to dismiss his divorce proceedings from his wife Robin Wright Penn, the second time he’s done so. This decision is going to affect some high-profile films that he had already committed to.
