Trailer for Yet Another Wes Craven Slasher-Flick, ‘Scream 4′
Posted by: | CommentsThe cheesy fake blood and cliché slasher storylines of the first three Scream films terrified me in elementary school. Looking back, the series now sits in the comedy genre rather than horror, with an array of other bad ‘90s flicks. On April 15, a fourth Scream is set to hit theaters, hoping to terrify a new generation of 12 year-olds and bring back 10 year-old memories for the rest of us.

Posted by: | CommentsLet me just say that I absolutely adore Scream, the first one. Not the sequels, just plain old Scream from 1996. That movie is one of the funnest slasher flicks I’ve ever seen, and any time I’m flipping through the channels, I’ll stop and watch if it’s on. That said, the success and quality of Scream lead to the increasingly worse follow-ups, Scream 2 and Scream 3; which was supposed to be the end of Wes Craven’s Ghostface franchise. But, when there’s a lack of backbone to finance original projects, studios love resting their head on that comfortable pillow called, “established properties.” We reported last June that, after a 10-year break, Wes Craven was returning to the Scream series to bring us the 4th instalment. And the other day, he tweeted (via FirstShowing) our first glimpse of the new Ghostface.
Some Quick Tidbits

● Talk about bringing back the Scream franchise has been going on for a while, but we now have some solid indications on exactly what Wes Craven and Co. are planning to do with this successful horror series. Last week Entertainment Weekly reported that Courtney Cox Arquette and David Arquette have been approached by writer Kevin Williamson to return in Scream 4 as reporter Gail Weathers and deputy dumb-dumb Dewey respectively. Well apparently the ambitions of this return is is larger than originally thought. SlashFilm reported today that Kevin Williamson cleared the air via Twitter saying:
“It is not a remake. Scream 4. The first chapter of a new trilogy.”
