Matt’s Review: ‘The Avengers’ is the Epitome of Summer Blockbuster Fun
Posted by: | CommentsGRADE: A
The last couple of months Marvel has been in-your-face with The Avengers marketing team working in full force. While I had reservations about showing so much of the film in teasers, trailers, featurettes, behind-the-scenes photos, and other sorts of promotion, the marketing team effectively sold this movie without giving away too much. Only one big moment was ruined by a trailer, something that is more common these days than not. Thankfully, there was so much more to this film than what was shown in all these previews. The Avengers was a fun-filled, surprisingly funny, Summer blockbuster that will give The Dark Knight Rises a worthy foe for the crown of Summer Box Office King.
First Look: Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock and Tom Hardy in ‘Lawless’
Posted by: | CommentsAnthony Hopkins is one of the most iconic actors that has ever been on film. He has tackled some of the most challenging characters from Hitler to Hannibal Lector. With a very impressive resume that spans from the 1960’s to today, it’s not hard to say that he is one of the greatest actors ever. Now he’s playing one of the most influential directors/storytellers ever in Alfred Hitchcock. Hit the jump to check out the full spread of Hopkins in Hitchcock and our first look at Tom Hardy in Lawless.
Scarlett Johansson is Ruthless in the New ‘The Avengers’ Clip
Posted by: | CommentsBoy, we sure have been getting all sorts of The Avengers goodies lately. Maybe that’s because the epic superhero film is going to be hitting theatres one month from yesterday. Marvel continues to show its appreciation for the fans by giving us more and more online content to keep our mouths watering. The latest bone we’ve been given is a great clip of Black Widow kicking some serious ass while tied to a chair. Hit the jump to check it out.
Second ‘The Avengers’ Trailer Shows Team Chemistry and Much More Action
Posted by: | CommentsIt was less than a month ago that we got a teaser Super Bowl spot for The Avengers. While that was just a small taste of the upcoming film, this second trailer is like a big spoonful. This time around we get to see the team of alpha males bicker a bit, and some of the elaborate action pieces — because of this, some plot lines are spoiled. If you don’t want to have too much spoiled for yourself and want everything to be fresh when you see The Avengers after May 4th, skip this trailer.
Check Out The Best Trailer From The Super Bowl, ‘The Avengers’ TV Spot
Posted by: | CommentsI’m sure many of our readers were watching the Super Bowl yesterday, and I’m sure a lot of you also made sure to pay attention to the commercials within the game. With the low scoring affair on display yesterday, I’m sure some actually considered the commercials more entertaining. The commercial spots are uber-expensive, but each year the upcoming Summer blockbusters usually put their marketing campaigns into full force with a Super Bowl spot — but notice the absence of a The Dark Knight Rises tease. The best movie ad from the game yesterday was hands down The Avengers spot, which can be seen after the jump. Actually, if you check out this video, you will notice it’s a little bit longer than what was shown on TV yesterday — so call this an extended Super Bowl spot.
Mike’s Review: ‘We Bought A Zoo’ Lets Loose The Inspiration
Posted by: | CommentsGRADE: B+
Cameron Crowe brought all his regular ingredients to the table with his latest film, We Bought A Zoo. It’s got the traditional Crowe inspirational dialogue, excellent music choices and commercial appeal of most of his work. Put simply, it’s a movie that seems impossible to hate – although cynics will still find a reason. The theaters are full of options this holiday season, but We Bought A Zoo is about as close to a guarantee family-friendly experience as you can get.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson Tapped for Zom-Rom-Com ‘Breathers’?
Posted by: | CommentsJoseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson could be starring in an adaptation of a zombie romantic comedy novel. S. G. Browne published Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament in 2009. The book tells the story of Andy (presumably JGL), a newly reanimated corpse. Sentient and with personality and memories intact, Andy must navigate a world that hates him in a body that is literally wasting away. At an Undead Anonymous meeting he falls in love with Rita (probably Scarlett), a suicide to die for. Together they break zombie taboos and eventually become crusaders for the zombie rights movement across the US.
I’m sure that after Iron Man‘s massive success, Robert Downey Jr. knew that he was back. But I bet he didn’t know that the top actresses in Hollywood would engage in a steel-cage death match to work with him. Well, maybe not a steel-cage death match, but according to Heat Vision (via Collider), Blake Lively is reportedly “scheming to steal” the lead female role in Gravity, the upcoming sci-fi drama co-starring RDJ, from Children of Men writer/director Alfonso Cuarón. Scarlett Johansson reportedly “verbally agreed” to star in the film, but apparently that report was premature.
Conspiracy Theory: Favreau Using Twitter for IM2 Damage Control?
Posted by: | Comments
Last week it was reported that Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow are not getting along on the set of Iron Man 2. The report came from the British paper The Sun, which is pretty much a gossip rag that has had other outrageous claims in the past. But their “scoop” has yet to be debunked and almost every entertainment site has run the story, so there must be some truth to it, right? So the Sun claims their source from the IM2 set told them:
“Gwyneth has become very frustrated with Scarlett. They come from different worlds and have completely different styles. Gwyneth has found Scarlett very demanding of the attention of the crew. It’s not a happy set.”
