Christopher Nolan

“And here, we…go!” It’s official. It’s true. And man is it a great day to bee a comic-book movie fan. About a month ago we posted news that not only was Warner Bros. getting their crap together for a much needed Superman reboot, but that Batman savior Christopher Nolan was going to have an integral part in its development. At that time, it was not confirmed, it was just industry chatter. It is now a fact. And we know this, because the man of the hour has said so himself.

Oliver Stone’s sequel to his critically acclaimed film Wall Street, is now being pushed by Fox from its original April 23rd release date all the way til September 24th. No official word has been released on the “why?” Money Never Sleeps was pushed back five months. The Hurt Locker Oscars

Where in the hell did this from? After getting no love from The Golden Globes or the SAG Awards, The Hurt Locker came out of left field to win six Academy Awards including Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow) and Best Picture. I thought it was a solid film, but NO WAY did it deserve Best Picture. Avatar and Inglourious Basterds were the only worthy nominees for the biggest award of the night in my opinion. I guess the Academy is still too conservative and/or short-sighted to give props to any film that wins big at the box-office.

Ebert Festival

Roger Ebert is undoubtedly THE most respected film critic/entertainment author that ever lived. Ebert has been writing about movies for the Chicago Sun-Times for over 40 years. He’s written 15 books about film and became the first person to win the Pulitzer Prize for film criticism in 1975. Last year he was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Director’s Guild of America, the first film critic to ever receive such an honor. And of course, along with his dearly departed former co-critic Gene Siskel, Ebert provided movie fans all over the world with the iconic catch-phrase “Two Thumps Up!” The guy is a pretty big deal in the movie industry.

Matt Damon Paul Greengrass

The last we heard on the development on the potential fourth installment in the Jason Bourne franchise was back in August of last year. It was reported that director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon had indeed signed on for Bourne 4, but troubles with the script were causing a lot of headaches at Universal, so the project went stagnant. Now it appears as though we have some official word directly from the mouths of Greengrass and Damon, both of whom are declaring that they’re done with Jason Bourne.

Leonardo DiCaprio Inception

So this project has had a lot of trouble finding its footing over the last year. We reported way back in April of last year that Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg were attached to star Prisoners, with Superman Returns/X-Men director Bryan Singer attached to direct. That triple-threat eventually fell through and the project has been in limbo ever since. Deadline Hollywood is now reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio is very interested in taking on the lead role, that is until he knows who is attached to direct.

Taylor Lautner Abduction

Now I know what you’re thinking. “Whaaaat?” I realize that a lot of Movie Mash readers are burned out on the Twilight franchise and all the teeny-bopping baggage that comes with it. While I tend to agree with that sentiment, I’m actually interested in this. Teen heart-throb/apparent newbie body-builder Taylor Lautner, is branching out from being a hunky Werewolf to star in Abduction; a project that is being tagged as a “Bourne-style action film.”

Mission Impossible 4

We have known that Tom Cruise would be getting his hands dirty in a fourth Mission: Impossible film for some time now. Now Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the fourth installment. But Abrams, director of Mission: Impossible 3, will not be back in the director’s chair.
