Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio to Collaborate on 5th Film with ‘The Gambler’
Posted by: | CommentsIf it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…right? Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have teamed up for four films over the past decade; Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed and Shutter Island. This abundance of consistent collaboration seems to irk a lot of moviegoers out there, as they’d like Marty and Leo alike to work with different talent. But all the above films are top-notch, so I say: Why the hell not? Well, we have a scoop from The Hollywood Reporter that Marty and The Departed screenwriter William Monahan are developing a remake of The Gambler – the 1974 movie starring James Caan as an English professor with a gambling addiction. And as you’d assume, they want Leo to star.
Badass Trailer for HBO’s Upcoming Prohibition Crime-Drama, Boardwalk Empire
Posted by: | CommentsWith Showtime rapidly nipping at the heels of HBO in terms of gripping television dramas, the Home Box-Office Network has been trying desperately to find a show to fill the massive shoes that The Sopranos left behind. I think they’ve found just the show. HBO has recently released (via Slashfilm) a promo trailer for their new crime-drama set to debut this fall, Boardwalk Empire. The show comes to us from none other than Sopranos creator Terrance Winter and executive producer Martin Scorsese. And after seeing the trailer, I truly think this show is going to be the next great American television drama.

Where, oh where to begin? This review of Shutter Island is going to be broken down into two parts. The first part contains a spoiler-free discussion of the the acting and direction of the film. The second part is going to have a SPOILER WARNING, where I discuss the plot. This film depends on discretion as it is a psychological thriller containing many twists and turns. So if you haven’t seen the film yet, the first part should give you enough information on why you should see it, then after you see it, come on back and read my reaction to the story.

Okay…deep breath…I’ve been watching this trailer over and over for the past half-hour and the hairs all over my body have been stiff as needles the entire time. This is the most insanely intense, creepy, chilling, badass trailer I’ve seen in years. This movie has officially been CATAPULTED into my Top 3 must-sees this year. WHOA! In case you don’t know what movie I’m talking about, it’s called Shutter Island, the latest collaboration between the dream team of Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese. The film is adapted from the 2003 best-selling novel of the same title, written by Dennis Lehane. It is set in 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leo) is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island. But this is no ordinary hospital for the criminally insane.
