‘No One Likes M. Night Shyamalan’…Seriously Though, WTF Happened?

No, that’s not M. Night Shyamalan. It is an actor playing M. Night Shyamalan in this awesome, hilarious and timely College Humor spoof video, No One Likes M. Night Shyamalan. We’ve all scratched and shook our heads in bewilderment as a once promising young filmmaker, responsible for bringing us brilliant, critically-acclaimed thrillers like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, has taken four consecutive dumps on the silver screen. Lets not beat around the bush, shall we? The Village, Lady in the Water, The Happening and The Last Airbender are all awful movies. It’s pretty universally agreed upon. And a huge reason for this, is Shyamalan’s incessant need to incorporate some sort of mind-blowing twist at the end of his movies. Which works for some, but obviously not for others.

GRADE: C-
First off, I did not go and see this movie in 3D. It was converted to the third dimension by the controversial and horrid looking post production process, so I was not about to give three more dollars to the movie studio. I will not support this price gouging via the post production conversion that lacks the quality of films shot in 3D, but costs the same. I was looking forward to this movie because it had potential to be a good film with an intriguing story set in a wonderfully creative world. Unfortunately, it was not a good movie and probably marks the end of M. Night Shyamalan’s big budget movie career.
Two New The Last Airbender Clips Stimulate Anticipation

With the release of The Last Airbender just days away now, the $130 million marketing campaign is obviously in full force. If any readers have been watching the World Cup, The Last Airbender name is plastered all over the screen during commercial breaks, post game coverage, and “Air Bending Goals of the Day, presented by The Last Airbender. Without being able to escape the grasp of this huge blockbuster’s marketing, people across the country like myself are made to wonder if the overall quality of the movie will match its amazing visuals. This film is led by the on and off M. Night Shyamalan, who has been off quite a bit lately (The Happening, The Village, Lady in the Water). Considering Shyamalan’s history, he can either help a movie kill at the box office or kill a movie entirely… especially with the endings.
The co-stars of M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, Nicola Peltz and Jackson Rathbone, were in town to promote the film at the Mall of America yesterday, where they signed autographs, had a Q&A with fans, and even rode some of the roller coasters in Nickelodeon Universe; remember, the film is based on the Nickelodeon animated show Avatar: The Last Airbender. I had the pleasure of sitting down with six other Twin Cities journalists for a round table interview with Nicola and Jackson, where we discussed martial arts training, filming in Greenland, the importance of family, and working with M.
