MUST MASH: Absolutely Incredible Inception ‘Character Featurette’
Posted by: | CommentsLast night lucky viewers of NBC shows were treated to a two-minute “Character Featurette” of Inception that breaks down each player of the film’s dream-heist squad. That featurette was released online today on MSN, and it’s absolutely incredible! You may remember a few weeks ago when we posted the awesome character posters for each actor in the film, featuring: Leonardo DiCaprio as “The Extractor,” Joseph Gordon-Levitt as “The Point Man,” Ellen Page as “The Architect,” Marion Cottilard as “The Shade,” Tom Hardy as “The Forger,” and Cillian Murphy as “The Mark.” The featurette includes A LOT of breathtaking new footage and seems an attempt to provide viewers with a better understanding of the film’s cerebral plot.
Leonardo DiCaprio Confirmed to Play J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood’s Biopic
Posted by: | CommentsA couple months ago we reported that Leonardo DiCaprio was in “early talks” to play eccentric FBI founder J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood’s biopic, currently being labeled Hoover. That report is now confirmed as Deadline is now stating that Leo has officially signed on to star in the project. The script was written by Oscar-winning screenwriter of Milk, Dustin Lance Black, with the project being fast-tracked at Warner Bros. to get production underway later this year.
Inception Behind-The-Scenes Featurette
Posted by: | CommentsWith the release date for Inception rapidly approaching, Warner Bros. has begun to hit the promotional trail hard, specifically with a bombardment of thrilling new TV spots airing during the NBA playoffs. Today, a new behind-the-scenes featurette debuted on Yahoo!, that has also been playing during the “First Look” segment at AMC theaters before the previews. The video features interviews with both writer/director Christopher Nolan and star Leonardo DiCaprio talking about the making of the film.
Mel Gibson’s Upcoming Viking Film May Be His Last Time In The Director’s Chair
Posted by: | CommentsSeveral months ago we reported that Mel Gibson was returning to the director’s chair after a five-year absence. The passion project is a ‘Viking epic’ that Gibson has been fantasizing about making since he was a teenager. Gibson has already won a Best Director Oscar for Braveheart and many consider his historical interpretations of the death of Jesus Christ (Passion of the Christ) and the brutal world of the ancient Mayans (Apocalypto) as visionary cinema. Unfortunately, this newest historical epic, according to Gibson himself, may be his last time directing.
Video: DiCaprio Says Inception Literally Has “Multiple Narratives Simultaneously”
Posted by: | CommentsWe haven’t had any legit Inception news in awhile, as Warner Bros, Nolan & Co. have been guarding its secrets impressively. The annual ShoWest cinema exhibition is currently underway in Las Vegas, and Thursday is Warner Bros.’ “Big Picture 2010″ presentation. So you can almost be certain that they will reveal new footage of Inception to “wow” theater exhibitors for the summer blockbuster season, so stay tuned for that. But I’m not that patient. In a video interview with Empire, while promoting Shutter Island in England, Leo discussed the complexity of Inception and its narrative structure.
Leo Eyeing Prisoners, But Wants To See Who Directs First
Posted by: | CommentsSo this project has had a lot of trouble finding its footing over the last year. We reported way back in April of last year that Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg were attached to star Prisoners, with Superman Returns/X-Men director Bryan Singer attached to direct. That triple-threat eventually fell through and the project has been in limbo ever since. Deadline Hollywood is now reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio is very interested in taking on the lead role, that is until he knows who is attached to direct.
Barrett’s Review: Shutter Island Is A Haunting Psychological Thriller
Posted by: | CommentsShutter Island (A)
Where, oh where to begin? This review of Shutter Island is going to be broken down into two parts. The first part contains a spoiler-free discussion of the the acting and direction of the film. The second part is going to have a SPOILER WARNING, where I discuss the plot. This film depends on discretion as it is a psychological thriller containing many twists and turns. So if you haven’t seen the film yet, the first part should give you enough information on why you should see it, then after you see it, come on back and read my reaction to the story.
First Official Inception Still Image Released
Posted by: | CommentsWarner Bros. has released the first official still photo of Christopher Nolan’s Inception, via the Los Angeles Times. It features Leonardo DiCaprio walking down, what looks like a Japenese corridor, dressed in a swanky Armani suit, holding a hand gun with a VERY LARGE silencer attached. For those who saw the amazing second teaser-trailer, one could speculate that this new still image has a correlation to the scene where Leo is walking through a grimly-lit kitchen, attaching said silencer to said hand gun. Although in that scene he was wearing black leather gloves.
Inception’s First Official Poster Revealed Via WB Viral Website

Okay, so I know some of you are probably tired of hearing about Inception. Well…too effing bad! My most-anticipated movie of 2010 has received an inordinate amount of in-depth coverage on The Movie Mash and it is going to continue, so DEAL WITH IT! When Warner Bros. released the mind-blowing teaser trailer back in August, they simultaneously launched the film’s official website. On that site was the spinning silver top, featured at the beginning of the teaser. The only thing the site allowed you to do was to move your mouse around which controlled the direction of the spinning top. Over the past week, that top began to wobble. That’s right, WOBBLE! Oooooo.
Gibson to Direct and DiCaprio to Star In ‘Viking Film’
Posted by: | Comments
Mel Gibson and Leonardo DiCaprio might be the two busiest guys in Hollywood right now. After an acting and directing hiatus due to his drunken arrest several years ago, Mel Gibson is set to explode back on to the movie scene in 2010. He soon stars in Edge of Darkness, opening in January, and has wrapped his role in Jodie Foster’s comedy-drama The Beaver. Now he’s pulling together an “untitled period drama set in the world of Viking culture,” with Leo set to star.
