Matt’s Review: ‘Deathly Hallows’ Has It’s Successes- and Failures
Posted by: | CommentsGRADE: B+
How to start this review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1? Of course I am a die hard Potter fan, a ‘Potter Purist’ if you will. I have enjoyed all the movies, but the literature is really where the heart of this series lies. J.K. Rowling has a gift for painting a picture, giving characters a pure heart or one of menace, and is especially skilled at creating a whole entire new world. Being a Potter purist, I have a devotion to the books. But as a fan, I really enjoyed the Deathly Hallows movie. Having seen the movie twice now, I think my take on the film is set in stone, and this review was well thought out.
This Deathly Hallows review is long, elaborate, and will sometimes play the comparing movie to book game. I find it necessary sometimes to get my point across, not to say the movie should be exactly like the book. That said, my grade for Deathly Hallows would probably be a lot lower if I wasn’t a Potter fan who read the books and didn’t know what was really going on overall. But because I have read the books many times, the Deathly Hallows movie made sense to me. Without this background knowledge, I am not sure how well I would have been able to enjoy the way this epic story was told for the screen.
Must-See ‘Deathly Hallows’ Featurettes
Posted by: | CommentsWow Potter fans, Warner Bros. has upped the ante with the two most recent Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows featurettes. I am serious, these two snippets are ridiculous-good. All the previous video promotions for the movie caused me to be a little skeptical and critical of their content. But these two featurettes are by far the best yet and seriously have me bouncing in my seat with anticipation. Call me a huge nerd, I don’t care. I seriously just became elated with the promise of Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows being epic, which now is less than two weeks away for me (I get to see the film on Monday the 15th, I know, be jealous). The videos are placed after the jump; anyone who considers themselves a Potter fan needs to check them out.
Another ‘Deathly Hallows’ Behind the Scenes Featurette
Posted by: | CommentsThe release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is looming just weeks away now. In an effort to promote the Quidditch robes off the seventh film, here is yet another Potter behind the scenes featurette. While the featurette really has nothing new that a Potter nerd like myself hasn’t seen already, I thought it would be worth passing along to readers. Hit the break to check out the latest behind the scenes with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
‘Deathly Hallows Part 1’ Will NOT Be Released in 3D
Posted by: | CommentsI consider this nugget of news a positive one for any true movie fan. Waves of marginal 3D movies have hit the market recently in an attempt by the film studios to gouge fans out of their money (or is it to bring us “into” the movie?). It’s good to see a studio finally standing up for quality in films and the fans who like to see them. Warner Bros. is that studio sticking for all of us fans out there. While they have not always had our best interests at heart demonstrated by the release of the atrocious looking Clash of the Titans, I think they learned their lesson the hard way regarding sub-par looking 3D. The 3D in that film was ripped by critics and fans alike.
Three New Character Posters for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’
Posted by: | CommentsOf course, one of my most anticipated movies of the fall season is the newest installment of the Harry Potter franchise. In recent weeks, I’ve been bringing you all the news about the upcoming Deathly Hallows films, but this time there is no news, only movie posters. Warner Bros. has released new individual character posters for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Three posters were revealed, each profiling one the the film’s lead characters Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Check out the posters after the jump.
My Thoughts on the New Harry Potter Trailer: ‘Ehh’
Posted by: | CommentsThe newest trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows just hit the web. Of course, the Movie Mash has got you covered. This brand new trailer is not advertising both movies like the previous trailer or teaser; this mamba is strictly promoting the first film. Hit the jump to see the latest trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Awesome New TV Spot for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’
Posted by: | CommentsIn my effort to bring readers all the details from the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies, I had to post about the the newest television spot for the final two films. The spot is only advertising the first film dropping November 19th. But get excited, the short trailer shows plenty of new footage that fans have not seen before. Check out the TV spot after the jump.

New ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Production Stills
Posted by: | CommentsAs promised, The Movie Mash is bringing you the latest from the Wizarding World through muggle modes of communication. Websites…pffht… do their pictures come to life? Us muggles should understand the best way to get news is from the Daily Prophet. But is it really? Isn’t Voldemort’s sly, cunning, invisible hand secretly controlling the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts, and the Wizard lines of communication like the Daily Prophet? Never fear though, the non-Voldemort manipulated news reporting on the Wizarding World can hit your eyes right here, so continue checking in.
New ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Behind-the-Scenes Featurette
Posted by: | CommentsEvery time a new nugget of information for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits the web, I am all over it like Chris Brown’s hands on Rhianna’s face. Too soon? Warner Brothers just released a behind-the-scenes featurette for the final two Potter films that are both dropping within the next 365 days. This two-minute video contains some new clips never seen by Potter fans, but most of the footage has already been shown in the other trailers. It’s still friggin sweet.
