The Movie Mash Presents: A Golden Globe Awards Preview w/ Barrett & Matthew
Posted by: | CommentsThe 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards is set to air on Sunday Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. (CT) on NBC. The glitter-laced gala event celebrates the best in both film and television and is a fun show to watch for any movie lover. The Globe nominees and winners are decided by an organization called the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, comprised of film and entertainment journalists outside of the United States. This year features a handful of great films and performances that have earned critical acclaim, box-office success or both. Matthew and myself decided to film a video blog discussing this years nominees, who we think will win, as well as who we think should win.
Barrett’s Awards Season Review: Precious Will Depress Some and Inspire Others

Like with Avatar and Up In The Air, Matthew and I will be providing “Awards Season” reviews for the films that are nominated for Best Picture Golden Globes, as well as ones that will be in the Oscar hunt. Stay tuned for our first Podcast discussing the Golden Globe nominations next week. Now to the review at hand. Watching Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire is like watching a horrific car accident in slow motion. You know what you are witnessing is traumatizing, but you cannot look away. You care about the people involved due to their heart-breaking life circumstances, but you can’t do anything about it and thus must painfully watch and hope for the best.

This is my favorite time of year. Not only is it Christmas time and nearing the NFL playoffs, but it is also the beginning of awards season. And while a lot of people have become extremely jaded by the relevancy and/or importance of Hollywood awards shows, and rightfully so, I can’t help but get excited to see which movies, actors, directors and writers will be honored for their excellence in filmmaking and television.
