Brilliant TDKR Parody Trailer, ‘The Lion King Rises’
Posted by: | CommentsThere have a dozen parodies of the theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight Rises that dropped last month. Most of them lazily rip on Bane’s “unitelligible” speech, and/or some sort of “garble-off” between Bane and Batman, as people still can’t get over Christian Bale’s scruffy inflection from The Dark Knight. I digress. I came across this brilliant pardoy trailer streaming down my Twitter feed which takes the audio of the theatrical TDKR trailer and puts it over clips from Disney’s The Lion King to create…The Lion King Rises. Check it out after the break.
MUST MASH: ‘New Year’s Eve’ Parody Trailer… ‘Christmas Day’
Posted by: | CommentsSo I saw New Year’s Eve last night, the new multi-storyline romantic comedy from the creators of last year’s Valentine’s Day. My full review will be up later this week, but SPOILER ALERT: It was…awful. Anyway, I saw this streaming down my Twitter feed earlier today and had to share it with you, in the spirit giving this holiday season. It’s a parody trailer from the peeps at Funny or Die for Christmas Day. Check it out after the break.
Nicolas Cage is a ‘Mad Lieutenant’
Posted by: | CommentsRight off the bat, I am obsessed with Nicolas Cage clips, montages and any video that showcases his pshycotic and staple “freak out” acting choices over the years. I just can’t get enough. The last Cage vid we posted (and one of the greatest videos to ever grace YouTube) was the now viral Nicolas Cage Losing His Shit. An absolute master-class of satiric clip editing. Now, I’ve found a side-splitting (at least for me) short montage of his crack-induced, socioapthatic witch cackling from Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Check it out after the break.
Would ‘Star Wars’ Have Been Better With a Black C-3PO?
Posted by: | CommentsThe question posed above might not be serious, but the video after the jump has your answer. Star Wars might not have worked with a black guy voicing C-3PO, but it would have been a whole lot funnier — that is clearly shown after watching the ghetto droid talk back to Uncle Owen. Hit the jump to see.
Must Watch: ‘Star Wars’ vs. Cancer and ‘Insane Office Escape’
Posted by: | CommentsTo keep the readers entertained over the weekend, I thought I would pass along some cool videos I encountered while trolling Twitter. The first is a fun Star Wars short where stars like Emma Stone, Ken Jeong, Seth Rogen, and Aziz Ansari reenact our favorite scenes from a galaxy far, far away to raise cancer awareness. The second video should make any FPS — first person shooter — fan feel at home. Imagine watching a Jason Bourne-like figure destroying the suited opposition to escape an office with a high value confidential object. Seriously, hit the jump and watch these videos.
Funny Business: Emmys Short Skit Brings Hilarity
Posted by: | CommentsSure the Emmys were on Sunday, but believe it or not, I didn’t watch them. I have better things to do with my time, like wash my hair. I am not usually one to sit down for three hours and soak in all the glamor, stars, and general BS in those shows. I’m more of a, ‘give me the highs and lows’ guy — who wore what, who fell on stage, and most importantly, who won? Of course there is some humor here and there, and this is an example of that. I was led to a very funny skit staged on the set of The Office, but features characters from many other hit shows like: Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec, and 30 Rock. Hit the jump to check it out.
Parody Trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Featuring the Villainous…Bane Cook
Posted by: | CommentsFilming for The Dark Knight Rises has been relatively quiet since production has moved to Los Angeles this month – thus the hiatus of the TDKR Weekly Status Report. But, there is a new, and pretty funny parody trailer brought to us by the YouTube comedy troupe Barely Political. In this parody trailer, Batman must face his biggest and most dangerous foe yet…Bane Cook. The trailer pokes fun at comedian Dane Cook and his widely hated brand of “douchey, populist humor.” Although I do like Dane Cook (I know, whatever), this is a really funny jab at the comedian, albeit a little out-dated.
What if Movie Characters Were…Hipsters?
Posted by: | CommentsMy buddy Jack posted this on my Facebook wall last week and I want to share with ya’ll Mashers out there. I’m moving to Uptown, Minneapolis next week, so this is an extremely poignant time to post this, as that section of the city is reputable for having a larger-than-average population of hipsters. You know, those “non-conformists” who wear skinny jeans, only purchase Apple products, attend indie coffee shops daily and wear wool beanie caps during the summer. Nothing against them at all, they’re just very prevelent in the Uptown community. Which is why these “If Movie Characters were Hipsters” photos are super funny. Check them out after the break.
Awesome Movie Cliché Infographics
Posted by: | Comments
My friend Stephanie sent this to me on Twitter a few days ago, and it’s pretty awesome so I had to share it with you. Movie Clichés are so prevalent and ingrained in our cinema-going experience that any person who has seen more than 10 flicks will find these images funny. I mean, they’ve become literal facts. If a girl drops her keys while frantically trying to get in her car & away from the killer, she’s most-likely going to get iced. A villain is not going to straight up shoot/kill the hero at the end of the 3rd act, he’s going to unveil his elaborate master plan, which in turn, allows for some distraction or the hero’s companion to step in and save the day. Aaaand around and around we go. Check out some more funny cliché infographics like the one above after the break.
“Meh” Spoof Trailer for ‘Field of Dreams 2: NFL Lockout’
Posted by: | CommentsAs the NFL Player’s Association and league suits continue their bitter battle over a new collective bargaining agreement, which could delay or cancel the 2011 season, Hollywood and some of the NFL’s elite have come together to poke some light-hearted fun at the situation. This comes via the Funny or DIE parody trailer for Field of Dreams 2: NFL Lockout, featuring Taylor Lautner in the same role as Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams, building a football field on his Iowa farm for all the stranded, out-of-work NFL stars to play. The spoof trailer features a ridiculous amount of big name NFL players including: Ray Lewis, Tony Gonzalez, Dwight Freeney, DeSean Jackson and Shawne Merriman, etc; as well as actors Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert (24, All State commercials), and yes, Mr. Kevin Costner. It’s a very good concept and I applaud the pristine production value, but the execution is completely stale, and nothing that should make you LOL to yourself.
