Unbelievable Teaser Trailer For “District 9″
Posted by: | Comments
This movie has now officially just jumped to the top of my must-see list for this summer. District 9 is written and directed by South African newcomer Neill Blomkamp, who had directed a couple short films and a documentary prior to this. Lord of the Rings visionary Peter Jackson is producing and developing this project through his production company, guiding Blomkamp as his director protoge’/apprentice. District 9 made some serious buzz at Comic Con San Diego last year with its secretive marketing techniques.
The film is a Sci-Fi thriller about an extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth, suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology. Pretty F’n epic. Last night at the Wolverine midnight showing, Sony Pictures unveiled the first teaser trailer to this super-secretive Sci-Fi thriller. I’ve watched it 5 times already and I can’t stop. Mic check 1, 2 the trailer below, courtesy of FirstShowing.net.
I mean, that interrogation scene. Holy crap! The guy asks “Why don’t you just leave? How do your weapons work?” And the alien’s face is blurred out, screeching and crackling all kinds of creepy noises during its response. Gives me hardcore chills. I haven’t had consistent chills like this since The Dark Knight trailer. The way it’s shot like a documentary/feature movie, the serious/scary tone, the way they toyed with us with the blurred out face. IT’S ABSOLUTE GENIUS! They also have one of the coolest and most interactive viral marketing campaigns I’ve seen (neck and neck with TDK‘s Why So Serious? campaign last year). Check out D-9.com and you’ll understand the image at the top, it is so cool. Cannot wait for this!
