As Avatar commandingly holds the record for highest-grossing movie of all time (not counting inflation), I’m sure a lot of people might be wondering what kind of money James Cameron earned from his blue behemoth of a film. Well according to Deadline, Cameron brought in a whopping $350 million for himself. The bulk of that cash is due to his gross percentage deal with Fox, where he would net a certain percentage of the film’s box-office earnings. Not a bad deal. Plus the film’s DVD and Blu-Ray sales set records all over the place, adding to Mr. Cameron’s massive pay day.
Ben Stiller Shows The World His Na’vi Lingual Skills
Posted by: | Comments“Kin ta uuuna masupa kalosi ttttttt ssssssssmmmmmmpapapapa.” This was without a doubt the best moment of last night’s horrifyingly boring Oscar show. About mid-way through the awards, Ben Stiller came out on stage to present the Best Makeup category dressed up in full-on Na’vi makeup, poking fun of the blue aliens from Avatar. He then spouted complete gibberish, making fun of the fake Na’vi language James Cameron came up with for the film and hilarity ensued. I literally almost peed my pants and was on the floor laughing for almost 10 minutes.
Full Oscar Recap: Hurt Locker Wins Big, Avatar and Those Lovable Basterds Get Snubbed
Posted by: | CommentsWhere in the hell did this from? After getting no love from The Golden Globes or the SAG Awards, The Hurt Locker came out of left field to win six Academy Awards including Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow) and Best Picture. I thought it was a solid film, but NO WAY did it deserve Best Picture. Avatar and Inglourious Basterds were the only worthy nominees for the biggest award of the night in my opinion. I guess the Academy is still too conservative and/or short-sighted to give props to any film that wins big at the box-office.
Box-Office Benjamin$: Avatar Continues to Dominate; Creeping Up On #2 All-Time
Posted by: | CommentsI haven’t done a Box-Office Benjamin$ segment in a while, but thought it would be a good idea to bring you up to speed on the unbelievable money machine James Cameron’s Avatar has become. As the image above displays, Avatar (as of today) has grossed just over $505 million domestically and is inching close to $2 billion worldwide. It has been #1 at the box-office for four straight weekends since the film opened on December 18, 2009. In the process of destroying records and winning awards (Avatar won two Golden Globes last night for Best Director, James Cameron and Best Picture) the film will also dramatically affect how films are financed in the future.

‘James Cameron Addicted to Avatar Special Effects’ Spoof Video

Kind of a slow news day, but this should provide some entertainment for you Movie Mashers. In their semi-weekly “LOL” post, SlashFilm has found a pretty funny video brought to us by the guys of LandlineTV.com, poking fun at James Cameron’s decade-long dedication to perfecting the digital CGI effects for Avatar. While this is not side-splitting, LOL, pee yourself hilarious, it will give you some decent chuckles seeing James Cameron go all Leo from Basketball Diaries, doing some very desperate things to get his next effects fix.
Is 3-D Completely Taking Over The Movie Industry?

I know what you’re thinking and no, the picture above is not a joke. The Jackass boys have another disgusting and bone-crunching movie in the works for their third installment of the…God am I actually saying this?…Jackass franchise. And not only has Johnny Knoxville confirmed that he, Steve-O, Chris Pontius and the rest of the gang are hard at work on Jackass 3, but just yesterday he reported that Jackass 3 is going to be in…you guessed it, 3-D.
Barrett’s Review: Avatar Is The Most Stunning Cinematic Experience I’ve Ever Had

Avatar (A)
Before we delve into this review, two things need to be stated immediately regarding James Cameron’s Avatar. 1) It absolutely MUST ONLY be seen in IMAX 3D. And I don’t mean that scam IMAX screen at your local AMC theater, I’m talking about the six-story legit IMAX screen that you’re probably going to have to drive an hour to get to. And 2) Avatar is the most stunning and breathtaking cinematic experience I have ever had in my entire life.
James Cameron’s Avatar Footage Screened, Minds Are Blown

As it has been predicted and speculated upon for months, even years now, it looks as though James Cameron’s upcoming Sci-Fi epic Avatar, will indeed revolutionize movies. One of the first articles that I wrote for The Movie Mash, discussed Avatar‘s game-changing potential as it is using revolutionary cinema technology, cost nearly $300 million and has taken almost a decade to make. But after a recent screening in Europe, potential is now fact. Cameron revealed 24 minutes of footage at Cinema Expo International on Tuesday for over 1,000 European industry attendees and the consensus is…”Mind-blowing.”
