A Second ‘Anchorman’ is Happening Says Will Ferrell
Posted by: | CommentsFor years the sequel to Anchorman has been stalled by what seemed to be a brick wall built of scheduling conflicts, budget problems, and Adam McKay not being on the same page with Paramount. It all seemed to add up to Anchorman 2 never being realized. Enter Ron Burgandy. Last night Will Ferrell, dressed in one of his “suits so fine,” came out from the shadows with his jazz flute in hand to make a major announcement. Hit the jump to hear it from Burgandy himself.
Anchorman Sequel Ready To Go, Waiting for Studio Green-Light
Posted by: | CommentsLast May we reported Will Ferrel discussing the possible Anchorman sequel, where he stated that “everyone is meeting next week to discuss it.” Since then, there hasn’t been any significant developments. Now we have word that the cast (Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Christian Applegate, Steve Carell, David Koechner) and co-writer/director Adam McKay, are all on board, but are waiting for the approval from Paramount before proceeding.

● Another epic comedy ensemble is being formed, this time for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s Paul. The writing-team blokes from the UK, responsible for bringing us Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, wrote the script for Paul. It’s about two British nerds who go to Comic-Con in America and during their road trip they stop off at Area 51 due to their Alien affinity/nerdery. There, they meet an alien named Paul who asks them to help him escape from the U.S Government. Sounds pretty hysterical. Variety reported yesterday that Jason Batemen, Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen have all signed on to comprise the rest of the cast. Rogen is apparently not in the actual movie, but rather the voice-over for the main alien/title character, Paul. What makes this movie absolutely pure gold is the fact that it’s being directed by Greg Mottola, director of Superbad and Adventureland. Thanks to SlashFilm for the image. Paul will comence filming next month with TBD release date in 2010.
