Matt’s Review: A Nightmare on Elm Street Remake Will Leave You Bored and Disappointed

It has been so long since I have seen the 1984 original genius of Wes Craven, a Nightmare on Elm Street. I was also very young when I did, so my recollection is not very good. That said, this remake was more like a first showing than a refresher. Walking into the movie with that mentality, this movie disappointed me quite a bit by the end. The remake stars Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach from Watchmen) as the infamous Freddy Krueger. He infiltrates the dreams of teens who have grown up from when Kruger knew them as children while he was a human working at their daycare.
Halloween is quickly approaching and movie studios are getting their fright-fest flicks and trailers ready for release. My two most-anticipated horror movies set to be released, one this fall and the other next year are hands down The Fourth Kind and A Nightmare on Elm Street. One is a completely original terrifying story of alien abduction based on actual events, while the other is a remake of one of the most legendary characters in horror cinema history. And based on their first official trailers, they both look really, really good.
