‘Pineapple Express’ Sequel Trailer or April Fools’ Day Prank?
Posted by: | CommentsIn a clever bit of April Fools’ Day marketing, apocalypse comedy This is the End stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Danny McBride put together a mock-trailer for a sequel to their previous hit, 2008’s Pineapple Express. The trailer features Rogen and Franco’s characters sent on a mission from their drug dealer (McBride) to assassinate Woody Harrelson (played by Jonah Hill, because hey why not?). M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” plays during the trailer, but that’s where the similarities to the first film’s trailer end. This trailer plays up it’s April Fools’ Day debut by being obviously lower-budget than its predecessor. At one point, McBride brandishes a gun that looks like its built from a baseball bat and a toilet paper tube.
Check This Out: Jimmy Kimmel’s Post-Oscar Spoof ‘Movie: The Movie: 2V’
Posted by: | Comments
Piggy-backing of the success of last year’s star-studded post-Oscar spoof Movie: The Movie, Jimmy Kimmel & Co. are back at it again with the inevitable sequel Movie: The Movie: 2V. It follows the same formula of featuring pretty much every A-list star ever (something that seemingly only Kimmel can pull off these days), whilst poking fun at famous moments in some of our most-recent blockbusters, as well as some of the more glaring clichés present in today’s cinematic landscape. Check it out after the break.
Good Stuff: ‘Bane Causes the Super Bowl Blackout’
Posted by: | CommentsThis year’s Super Bowl has come and gone. But online jokers are still releasing parody vids ripping on this year’s festivities. Obviously the biggest “WTF?” moment was the blackout in the Super Dome, in which power was lost for a brief period of time. What, nay, WHO caused the blackout? Well obviously the world’s most notorious football game terrorist…BANE!!! Funny Or Die released a video that playfully shows Bane’s poor attempt at causing a mildly irritating lapse in power at the game, but it doesn’t go according to plan, forcing Bane (played by Chris Kattan) to provide funny observations about the commercials and Beyonce’s half-time performance. It’s worth a chuckle. Check it out after the break.
We’re nearing the end of 2012, thus come the requisite and inevitable ”Top” lists and compilations of the best films of the year. One thing that sometimes goes unfairly disregarded are the awful pieces of crap that have hit cinemas this year. Which is why this video coompilation titled The Worst Movies of 2012 Review Themselves is such a simultaneous delicious treat and depressing recap of garbage. Included are such wonderful cinematic gems as Adam Sandler’s god awful That’s My Boy and Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection, among others. Hit the jump to watch the video.
Honest Trailers Pokes Fun at ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
Posted by: | CommentsHonest Trailers has made its way on to our site before — it’s only fitting with the DVD/Blu-ray release of The Dark Knight Rises yesterday to post Screen Junkie’s comical poke at the film. While some of the jabs are stupid and mere attempts at humor, with all comedic commentary there is an element of truth. One gripe so many fans of the Nolan finale are the plots holes — Honest Trailers, along with the help of Red Letter Media, point out some of the glaring ones. It’s a fun watch.
Hawkeye Sucks in This SNL ‘The Avengers’ Parody
Posted by: | CommentsJeremey Renner is everywhere in 2012. First he assembled with The Avengers as Hawkeye, and continued the Bourne Legacy with, umm…Bourne Legacy. Inevitably, he had to make an the SNL rounds as host. This past weekend, the SNL writers poked fun at the laughable and eyebrow-raising inequality in abilities/contribution of Hawkeye to The Avengers team as a human archer-assassin. In the skit, he runs out of arrows immediately and casually gives up. This was something that we literally called out/made fun of in the title of our MashCast recap of The Avengers back in May. Check out the skit after the break.
Honest Trailer: The Truth About the Overhyped ‘Prometheus’
Posted by: | CommentsI didn’t see Prometheus until a week after it came out. The buzz surrounding the film was so positive it made me think it couldn’t miss. But after I saw it I thought, “Huh?” The film was underwhelming in so many departments, especially when it came to answering many of the film’s basic questions. Of course, every film doesn’t need to answer everything, but some very basic and crucial areas of Prometheus were left untouched. Simply put, I think Prometheus is one of the most overrated movies I’ve seen in a very long time. I’d put it closer to a mediocre grade, far below it’s ‘Certified Fresh’ 73% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. The video posted after the jump mirrors many of my feelings towards the film, so if you reject my dislike for Prometheus, I recommend you watch it.
BadLipReading.com Provides Funny Dubs Over Blockbuster Films
Posted by: | CommentsMovie spoofs are kind of a picky thing. They can be either a hit big or miss big. But some regular sites that continually spoof films like How It Should Have Ended are worthy of following. Now comes a few film spoofs from the YouTube channel Bad Lip Reading, where fake voices are placed over the existing dialogue to phrase what it looks like the actors are saying. The result is hysterical. Check out the first Twilight spoof video after the jump.
How ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Should Have Ended
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve posted plenty of these funny animated reels on the MASH before. The guys at How It Should Have Ended, or HISHE, have another funny short poking fun at one of this Summer’s biggest movies, The Dark Knight Rises. The short not only has fun criticizing the film, but also highlights some pretty noticeable flaws in Nolan’s final chapter. I of course still loved the third chapter, but this short by HISHE really encapsulates many moments in the film that had me scratching my head.
