Set Photos Surface From Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ With Russell Crowe And Emma WatsonBy
Russell Crowe is a very busy guy. Within the next year we will be treated to four movies where his name is high on the credits. Before the year is up, we’ll see him him such flicks as The Man With The Iron Fists, Broken City and Les Miserables. Next year, we will see him the highly anticipated Man Of Steel. Currently ‘Maximus’ has been filming the biblical retelling of Noah, which is being helmed by Black Swan Director Darren Aronofsky, who over the last two years has rejected offers to direct The Wolverine and the Robocop remake. But he finally settled on the tale of Noah. The film won’t be released until the spring of 2014. A few set photos have surfaced online during these first days of shooting. Check out the shots of Mr. Crowe along with shots of some of his co-stars in Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson.
To top off what is already a powerhouse of a cast, Noah will also feature Sir Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, and Logan Lerman. The fact that this movie is getting such a heavy amount of attention makes me curious if this is going to be like Passion Of The Christ. Both tales of Jesus and Noah are memorable and popular stories that have been made into films before. But what was special about Passion Of The Christ was that it was the first massive big-budget live action religious film since Ben Hur.
It’s way too early to tell, but when you have a lead like Russell Crowe along with gorgeous leading ladies like Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson, and Darren Aronofsky behind the wheel, it feels like a homerun. The box office numbers would prove that films based on religious tales can go one of two ways: they can be great pieces of art that satisfy the faithful and moviegoers alike or they can be a poor excuse to broadcast nothing else but sappy life mottos and creeds. I don’t think that will happen with Noah. I think it will be a very dark and interesting film, much like Aronofsky’s record would have you believe.
