Red Band ‘Evil Dead’ Trailer is Gory, Grueling, and a Treat for Horror Fans
ByThis Evil Dead trailer is one of the most demented, disgusting, and gruesome trailers I’ve ever seen — I can’t imagine what the real film will be like. I’ve never seen any of the original material helmed by Sam Raimi (I’m not a horror fan remember), but if they original three were anything like this, I can see why they would be successful. Horror fans eat this crap up, demonic story lines, blood, guts, gore. Hit the jump to check out this first look at the remake of The Evil Dead trilogy.
Check it. This is definitely not safe for work (NSFW).
I have got to say, that is one well crafted trailer. The music paired with the images is more than just freaky.
This next paragraph shows my lack of knowledge about The Evil Dead. I did recently see The Cabin in the Woods, a film that I’m sure took many of its beats from this series. This trailer almost seems like its stealing from The Cabin in the Woods — a small cabin buried in the wilderness, a trap door to a mysterious basement, the reading of an enchanted scripture that awakens evil, etc. But since the Joss Whedon meta-product borrowed from so many horror films, I’m sure it’s the other way around.
But seriously, even for a Red Band trailer, this is the most gruesome trailer I’ve seen that I can recall. When the girl is cutting her tongue in half at the end, just awful stuff.
Evil Dead hits theaters April 12th, 2013.
