New ‘The Wolverine’ Poster and Video Chat With Hugh Jackman and Director James Mangold
ByThere have been a lot of twists and turns in the production of the new The Wolverine film. But two things that have stayed the same: the fact Hugh Jackman was going to play the famous superhero and the story being based on The Wolverine comic series where Logan travels to Japan. Now that production is coming to a close, we have a brand spankin’ new poster for the film, along with an extensive Live Chat video with Director James Mangold and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman.
But first, check out the awesome new poster below.
This poster RULES! How can it not? It has the rough shadowy vibe that the comics had back in the day. I may have to buy this poster. But the news doesn’t stop there. The Live Chat with The Wolverine‘s Director and star reveal a few new spoiler free details about the film that will relieve many franchise fans that hated X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Check out the Live Chat below.
In case you didn’t feel like watching the extensive video, here are some of the highlights from the discussion. This is spoiler free.
- Mangold wanted to avoid the “super-duper abilities” to keep the film grounded.
- Mangold compares to The Bourne films and The Dark Knight (Feels like every film is being compared to TDK nowadays).
- Wolverine’s ultimate weapon is his rage and that shows through more than ever. The action is very physical, fight choreography is amped up big time.
After hearing what changes will be made to The Wolverine to give a more realistic feel than the other X-Men films, I am not as skeptical as I previously was. Hugh Jackman has played the role perfectly, but where the role lacks is the direction of the story around his character. He was the main star in the somewhat disappointing X-Men Trilogy. But if James Mangold and Co. execute their well crafted vision, it should be a great film.
