Seth MacFarlane will be hosting next year’s Oscar Ceremony. That’s right, the creator of Ted and Family Guy will be hosting one of the most prestigious nights in entertainment. This is a complete 180 from last year’s host Billy Crystal, and the two before, Anne Hathaway and James Franco, which was extremely boring.

Oscars Producer Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said that Seth will be the “consummate host” and that his skills “blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh.” This is very true. Seth has a great taste for the theatrical and a wonderful underrated singing voice that deserves to be heard. He did record a jazz album called Music Is Better Than Words which showcased a very pleasant and tasteful homage to classical jazz music.

After hearing the news that he would be hosting the Oscars, Seth had this to say:

My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.

I know that the Oscars are looking for a new face that is relevant in pop-culture to help boost ratings. What better way to get a new audience than to hire one of the hottest names in comedy with a massive following. I honestly think Seth was as close to a perfect choice as you can get. He’s a classy guy and will not devalue the Oscars because his television shows and movies are raunchy. He’s too smart of a guy to abuse what he’s been given.

I can’t wait to see him host The Oscars which will be held on February 24th.
