The Iron Man films have been one of the most exciting and fruitful series to come out of the comic book medium. Robert Downey Jr. has played Tony Stark perfectly over the years, and now he’s back for a final go on his own. A trailer for Iron Man 3 popped up online for your viewing pleasure. It appears that just about all hope is gone for Stark and all his newest toys. Iron Man 3 looks to have a very similar feel to The Dark Knight Rises, where everything has gone to shit and the hero must rise up to defeat a massive evil force. This is the last film in the Iron Man trilogy, so you can imagine how the antagonists are going to abuse the hell out of Tony Stark before he is able to make his inevitable comeback. What stood out to me about the trailer the most was how interpretive it is. The first shot of a beaten Iron Man laying in the snow, fresh from a battle he lost while Tony Stark’s remorseful voice sounds on the consequences of being a superhero.

We got to see two new characters in the trailer. One being Aldrich Killian, played by Guy Pearce. The other is The Mandarin, played by Sir Ben Kingsley, who is clearly a villain. Ben’s voice is almost unrecognizable as he pulls it down to a deep baritone like sound.

I really hope that Iron Man 3 is better than the second installment. I doubt that the issues from Iron Man 2 weren’t attended to. It appears that a lot of care is being given to Iron Man 3, judging by the visually rich shots and the emotions poured out by Stark. Will it be better than Iron Man 2? We’ll have to wait until the spring to find out.
