Just when you thought Jeremy Renner couldn’t possibly pigeonhole himself as an action star any further, he proves you wrong. He and Gemma Arterton will play the titular characters in a new witch hunting flick that is due out next year. Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters is about a brother and sister who team up to become relentless bounty hunters after their traumatizing gingerbread house incident. Sound like a joke? Well it’s not. This film looks way too much like Hugh Jackmans Van Helsing, and that movie sucked. I don’t understand why they make movies like this and think that they’ll be successful. I am getting a little tired of seeing a great actor like Jeremy Renner only doing action movies. And not just action movies, but movies that are set up for sequels. If you factor in Mission: Impossible , The Bourne Legacy, The Avengers and H&G, you’ve got four sets of potential trilogies featuring Jeremy Renner.

I don’t think I’ll be seeing this movie not just because it looks bad, but it’s a recycled storyline with the overused theme of witches and vampires. Someday there will be no witch, vampire or werewolf movies in the theaters, but sadly that day won’t be coming anytime soon. Hansel And Gretel will be released in theaters on January 13th, 2013 It will be going up against the recently adjusted Gangster Squad film with Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Hansel And Gretel features Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, and Peter Stormare.
