The Bin Laden Manhunt Begins With ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Teaser
ByAs we all know, after 9/11 Osama Bin Laden became the most wanted man in the world. And for nearly a decade after, he was untraceable. On May 2nd 2011, a covert operation was deployed to raid a house that was believed to be Bin Laden’s temporary hiding place — there he was eventually shot and killed. I guess I should have precluded that information with a SPOILER ALERT, but unless you’ve been living on a different planet for the last year, I assume that everyone knows Bin Laden’s dead. Of course, Hollywood being Hollywood, there is a movie to go along with the tale. The project is being directed by The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow, another military installment for her resume. Zero Dark Thirty goes deep into the operation that killed one of the most wanted men in history. Check out the trailer below.
Check it.
Zero Dark Thirty promises more information on the operation than you already know, which I can almost guarantee will be behind the scenes stuff with satellites, surveillance cameras and other things of that nature. This story needs to be told, but it seems to be one of those films that for one reason or another, is rushed to the screen way too early. The dude was killed less than 2 years ago and the film is at the tail end of post-production. And I honestly feel that having Kathryn Bigelow direct is kinda cliché. I think she’s a decent director, but to me it equates to having Michael Bay directing a movie with fast cars.
The film stars Kyle Chandler, Jessica Chastain, who is in just about every movie out recently, and Joel Edgerton. Zero Dark Thirty will be hitting theaters on December 19th of this year. Usually a December release means the studio feels it has Oscar implications. While I’m sure the studios would like to snag some Oscars with this film, I very much doubt that lightning will strike Bigelow and her team twice.
