‘The Avengers 2′ Gets A Release Date — It’s a Long Way Off

By

From the day it was released, there was never any doubt The Avengers was going to get a sequel. The only questions left hanging were who was going to direct it and when would it be released. Disney recently confirmed The Avengers 2 will be released on May 1st, 2015. That’s a long 3 years to be waiting for a Marvel film, considering Iron Man and Iron Man 2 were released two years apart. But they are going to keep their foot off the gas a bit with the mega blockbuster sequel and focus on films like Thor 2, Captain America 2 and Iron Man 3.

May seems to be a great month for Marvel films. If you look at the recent history of their blockbuster releases they all take place right around the same time. Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Avengers were all released in early May. To go along with the sequel getting a release date, fans can breathe a sigh of relief after the announcement came that Joss Whedon will be returning to the director/writers chair for The Avengers 2 – as if there was any doubt. Even if there was, Disney/Marvel would have almost emptied the bank to get the man back at the reigns. It’s great to see him returning for the sequel because he seemed to nail what the Summer blockbuster is all about. As excited as I am about this news, it’s a long ways away. Now we play the waiting game.
