‘Life Of Pi’ Trailer Dazzles With Vibrant Colors and Unique Vision

By

Life Of Pi is a book that tells the story of a boy named Pi and a tiger trapped on a boat after their freighter full of zoo animals sinks in a storm. The book is widely loved and was even adapted into a play for the Bradford Theater in England. When I heard the book was being transformed into a major motion picture and that Ang Lee was attached, I wasn’t all that excited, but I thought it could work. Then this first trailer hit the web, and now I’m pumped to see this book be recreated by the visionary Ang Lee. Hit the jump to see the trailer for Life Of Pi.

Check it.

It’s one thing to turn a book into a movie, but Life Of Pi looks more like a dream than a studio production. It’s rich and warm with a constant glow that gives a comfortable vibe. Obviously a lot of this film is done with CGI, but the vision and the execution look nearly flawless. The amount and use of color is this trailer really allows the shots to pop without appearing overdone. And the film being released in 3D will only add to the dynamic vision of Ang Lee, who almost never disappoints in that department.

There was a short snippet from the film played before Prometheus. The clip showed Pi battling the Tiger with fish flying out of the water into the boat. The clip didn’t really do much for me, but the look of the film was definitely worth noting. This preview however makes the film look way more interesting and entertaining. Will Life Of Pi be this year’s Slumdog Millionaire? We’ll have to wait until this November 21st to find out.
