Yes! Andrew Stanton Announces ‘Finding Nemo Sequel’ in the Works

By

Legendary Pixar Director Andrew Stanton, the man who brought us Finding Nemo and Wall-E, has teased in the past he would not be opposed to doing a Finding Nemo sequel if the story was right. Well, apparently he found something worth the magic of Pixar, because Nemo and Marlin are coming back for more.

Deadline is reporting the director has a “concept the studio loves” and has “officially come on board.” Unfortunately, as of now, neither Disney nor Pixar have confirmed or commented on this news. But The Hollywood Reporter also broke that scribe Victoria Strouse is going to be working on the script.

This is great news for a huge Pixar fan like myself, especially considering Finding Nemo is my favorite title from the animation studio to date. The only bummer is the film is expected to be released in 2016. As I’ve teased before, next year brings Pixar’s first prequel Monsters University — then three other projects already in the works, one which is called The Good Dinosaur, are set to come out in subsequent years.

But if 2016 is too far away to get your fill of Nemo, Disney is releasing Finding Nemo 3D in theaters this September. The first time around the film was only 2D, so what better way make more money than converting an already huge Pixar success (the second highest grossing film for Pixar behind Toy Story 3) to the latest Hollywood fad, 3D?
