Yes, Tom and Katie broke up. But this isn’t Perez Hilton, moving on. A Russian version of the Jack Reacher trailer leaked a few days ago, but the quality was garbage and the dialogue was, well, Russian. Now Yahoo has the English version for your viewing pleasure. This film will definitely resonate with the Drive crowd, but from the looks of the trailer, Jack Reacher is not even close to the Ryan Gosling flick and will feature more of the Hollywood-Blockbuster-Formula, i.e. a lot of action, hot women, big stars, and more action. Nothing really special here. I’m definitely intrigued enough by this trailer to give it a chance. I really love the line when he is surrounded by the thugs about to brawl, “Remember, you wanted this.” This film also stars Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall, and Werner Herzog as the villain.

This film is based on a book called One Shot, which apparently has a far more complex story than this trailer will lead you to believe. Maybe Jack Reacher isn’t faithful to the book in the in end — after all, One Shot is a better title than Jack Reacher in my opinion.

For those book fans dedicated to the purity of the written word, to say the least, they are not happy about Cruise playing Reacher. There is even a Facebook Group against the Cruise playing the part. The lead male is supposed to be 6’5″ and 250 pounds, which obviously is a far cry from Tom Cruise’s miniature stature. But I like the Scientology wiz’s retort to his critics:

“For those of you who know the books, I’m obviously not 6-foot-5, like Jack Reacher… But Lee (Childs) felt that I was the right guy to drive fast cars and kick the s–t out of people onscreen.”
