Footage From James Cameron’s ‘Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away’ Shows Amazing Visuals

By

Cirque du Soleil is known for being one of the best, if not the best and most successful circus chain ever. I have seen a few live shows myself and have been blown away every time. Some of the spectacles created for the shows don’t seem possible without the use of computer effects, but somehow the crew of Cirque du Soleil make it work. James Cameron is now producing a new Cirque du Soleil show called Worlds Away so it can be seen on the big screen, and go figure, it’s in 3D. Gaze upon the magical trailer for Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away after the jump.

Here is the trailer for Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away:

This looks more like a Baz Luhrmann film on crack than anything else. It’s hard to watch this and not be stunned by the live visuals that not only take some crazy imagination, but a ton of effort and flawless execution to appear real. While I’m not a big James Cameron fan, this Cirque du Soleil performance is more about the writer and director Andrew Adamson, who also directed the first two Shrek films and the first two Chronicles Of Narnia films.

While I don’t ever remember seeing a Cirque du Soleil trailer like this before, this is most definitely not the circus’s first run on video. Cirque du Soleil has been around since 1984 and has 20 video pieces produced to try and bring the visually epic tales to the audience at home. Those pieces include nine television productions, eight straight-to-video films, and three major motion pictures, Worlds Away being the third and most recent. The only sucky part about this film is that it’s going to be in theaters for one day only. So mark your calendars for Friday December 21st. Which is one week after The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and one week before Django Unchained, which looks awesome.
