Bleak Post Apocalyptic Trailer For ‘The Day’

By

If you look at some of the more mainstream post-apocalyptic movies, they all pretty much have the same two elements. There is usually a journeyman or group of journeymen and a group of evil-doers that make every attempt to kill them. A lot like the Cormac McCarthy adaptation The Road and The Book Of Eli.  Now we have a trailer for The Day, which looks to be very similar to those films. Check it out after the jump.

Here’s the trailer for The Day.

Besides having good guys and bad guys, the only thing that makes this film look different from other post-apocalyptic films is the amount of bloody, gruesome action that takes place. The trailer doesn’t give us a whole lot as far as plot goes, but it looks like a group of survivors find a house that ends up becoming a trap. The Day is directed by newcomer Douglas Aarnioloski, who’s has worked as the Second Uint Director on many films, including Austin Powers, Spy Kids, and The Medallion.

I honestly don’t know if this movie is going to be worth seeing. I’m up for good survival movie when the time is right, but The Day looks lost in action with no real story. And I’ve kind of had enough with the gritty, dirty, super grey tone films that offer almost no resolve — been there and done that many times.

The Day stars some decent actors in Shawn Ashmore and Dominic Monaghan. But the trailer features more on the rough and cold character Mary played by Ashley Bell. The Day also stars Micheal Eklund and Shannyn Sossamon and will be smacking theatres on August 29th, 2012

Do You Think The Day Will Be Worth Seeing?
