New Posters For ‘The Expendables 2′ and ‘Taken 2′

By

When it comes to sequels like The Expendables 2 and Taken 2, you don’t really have to do a whole lot of advertising to get people in the door. Both films have large enough fan bases for Hollywood to make a profit. And if there is one thing that Hollywood is great at, it’s making sequels for films that don’t need or shouldn’t have sequels. The Expendables was nothing to be proud of judging by Matt’s spot on review. So why make a sequel? Because they can, and they can with Jean Claude Van-Damme and Chuck Norris to make the sequel even bigger and better than the first. Okay, maybe not better, but bigger for sure. Check out the brand new poster for The Expendables 2 after the jump.

Gaze upon The Expendables 2 poster.

This is exactly what I thought The Expendables 2 poster would look like. The whole world is burning and going to shit only to be saved by this crew of dirty, rough, battle-worn heroes. The poster promises what will be be delivered in theaters on August 17th, a lot of action, nothing more.

Another piece of advertising that found its way online is the much more subtle and modest poster for Taken 2. The original Taken was a very good film with great acting, very realistic action and a ton of suspense. I don’t know why they would make a sequel to a film that stands perfectly on its own, but Taken 2 is not the worst sequel idea that I’ve heard of. Hopefully it holds up with the original. But to get the fans salivating, Lionsgate released a teaser poster online. Take a peek at the new poster.

Here’s a brooding Liam Neeson in the poster for Taken 2.

The tag on the poster gives us an idea as to what the film will be about. Something will happen to Bryan Mills because of what he did to save his daughter. We’ll have to wait until a teaser hits the web, which should be sometime soon because the film is already in the post-production stages.
