‘The Innkeepers’ Trailer Feels Similar to ‘The Shining’
ByWith the lingering thrill of Halloween and all scary things encompassing, it’s exciting to see a trailer for a movie like The Innkeepers. Under the direction of Ti West (House of the Devil), the film presents an obvious mirror to The Shining. Hit the jump to learn more and view the trailer.
This is what the movie entails according to the trailer description:
After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees -Claire and Luke – are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England’s most haunted hotels. As the Inn’s final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage “ghost hunters” begin to experience strange and alarming events that may ultimately cause them to be mere footnotes in the hotel’s long unexplained history.
The main downfall to the film is the deliberate pacing that shows itself in the trailer. Sometimes this can work to a scary movie’s advantage and other times it just makes it predictable and not worth watching. German Lussier (/Film) saw The Innkeepers at the Fantastic Film Fest with this to say about the film:
“A deliberate pace slightly handicaps the scares, interesting story and awesome ending but Innkeepers is a great example of someone trying something fun and new in the scare genre.”
So, with a comment like that, the movie is still worth considering if you’re the scary movie type. Give the trailer a go.
The Innkeepers hits theaters on February 3rd, but if you’re excited about this one you can get it on iTunes on December 30th. Certainly, a good thrill to look forward to on a winter’s night.
