Paramount’s Insurge Releases ‘The Devil Inside’ Trailer
ByParanormal Activity was a huge success as a low budget film, which urged Paramount to start a micro-budget film division called Insurge (via /Film). The Devil Inside will be Insurge’s first attempt at making the low budget division prosperous in the industry. Paramount actually bought the film from producers Matthew Peterman and Morris Paulson. If all goes accordingly, Paramount‘s Insurge will make or buy up to several more films throughout the year that cost around a million big ones to produce. Hit the jump to learn more about The Devil Inside and to view the trailer.
The film was co-written and directed by William Brent Bell and Matthew Peterman (Stay Alive). It narrows in on a young lady named Isabella who seeks out her possessed mother. In this case, multiple demons possess her mother and led her to kill three people. Even the priests running the creepy institution where she resides cannot seem to heal her unpredictable supernatural state. All the while, Isabella is worried that her mother’s devil inside will somehow be genetically passed on to her.
For a micro-budget film, the special effects are not bad. There is a lot of ‘found footage’ which helps bring in the element of reality to the storyline, but it doesn’t necessarily set The Devil Inside apart from other low-budget horror films. There are some creepy parts in the trailer that lead me to believe there is either incredible acting going on, or great writing in the demonic possession scenes. It’s hard to say if the film has Paranormal Activity substance, but The Devil Inside will be making its debut on January 6, 2012.
Check out the trailer for some exorcism thrills at the very least.
