Check Out This Encouraging Trailer For Irvine Welsh’s ‘Ecstasy’

By

Irvine Welsh’s book, Trainspotting, was a huge success in 1996 as a screen adaptation because it explored heroine’s apparent rapture and the damaging effects that follow through a unique, eye-opening narrative. Now, Welsh’s short story “The Undefeated” from his book Ecstasy, has been adapted for the screen and hones many similar themes. Another dive into drug culture, Ecstasy will be bringing viewers into a world of euphoric “rolling” and its effects on a drug induced romance. Hit the jump to learn more and view the trailers for Ecstasy.

Ecstasy was directed by Rob Heydon (Ninjatune Recording Zen TV) and appears to have promising roles from both Kristin Kruek (Smallville) and Adam Sinclair (Mile High) as the film’s romantic drug using couple. Their relationship in the movie will be grounded in using ecstasy together, leading up to an inevitable struggle over whether or not they have true feelings for each other sober. A world of dance clubs and high rolling dealers brings a whirlwind of euphoria, violence, misery, and death to the forefront.

As a Welsh film, you can expect Ecstasy will have an amazing soundtrack, including tracks from the following artists: TiestoDeadmau5Primal ScreamColdplayBonjayThe Mahones, Hawksley Workman, and more. Audiences should be prepared for the highest highs and the lowest lows in a world central to electronic dance music’s favorite drug.

Ecstasy will be opening in the U.K. on April 17th, 2012. The first trailer will give you the best idea of what the film entails. There are second and third trailers for the film as well.

Do you think Welsh’s Ecstasy will be as captivating as Trainspotting?
