‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Teaser & ‘Dexter’ Trailer

By

A few days ago I posted a lineup of new photos from The Amazing Spider-Man. The set photos got a Spidey fan like myself ready for the Summer 2012 reboot. Now with Comic Con going on in San Diego, of course fans are going to get some more juicy bits from the upcoming comic book films. Add The Amazing Spider-Man to the list as the teaser hit the web the other day.

Yesterday
I posted the Dexter teaser for Season Six. But today the full trailer came about for the new season, and instead of adding it to the teaser post of yesterday, I’ll add it here. Dexter deserves two posts in two days. Did I mention I love Dexter?

First up we have The Amazing Spider-Man teaser — if you can call it a teaser. This feels more like a full length trailer. It’s over two minutes long and features a ton of footage from the movie — it shows off the movie more than it teases about it.

I personally liked everything in the trailer, excuse me, teaser, except for the first person sequence experiencing Spider-Man flying over the rooftops. I didn’t dislike the idea, it just does not seem to fit with the rest of the tease. Everything else shows the origins and Peter, and then it jumps into the action showing off way too much footage of Spider-Man. It’s supposed to be a tease! — What’s a tease Barrett? I believe the tease would have worked better if it would have chose to show just Peter Parker, or just the first person Spider-Man.

From the people I have heard from, the first person sequence did not resonate well. I’ve heard people go as far to say the movie looked dumb because of this part alone. I would not go that far, but like I said above, the first person doesn’t seem to fit with the Parker introduction. I think the first person view is an excellent idea. How much cooler can it get than to navigate a massive city hundreds of stories up, looking down on the life far below? I thought the sequence was awesome. Voyeurism is such a beautiful thing. Imagine it in 3D. The Amazing Spider-Man was shot in 3D — the right way to approach charging us three dollars more at the box office.

And again, gotta throw love out to Andrew Garfield, he looks the part of Peter Parker. The same can be said for Emma Stone. I like the look of the suit, I like the idea of a realistic Spider-Man, I like Marc Webb, and any Spider-Man is good Spider-Man. Even if it is crappy Spider-Man 3 emo Spider-Man. He is one of my favorite super-heroes — why wouldn’t I want him on the big screen more?

Also, a great film mind (@eisentower30) spotted a lizard on this bridge. I would suspect it isn’t the normal type, because those are cars he is throwing.

Next up we have Dexter. My favorite show returns this Fall, and to get our blood pumping harder just a day after the teaser, fans get a look at a ton of footage from the season mixed with a little bit of Marilyn Manson. The trailer is well edited — but yesterday’s teaser had a much more significant impact on my anticipation. Cannot wait for Dexter.
