Trailer Trash Mash: Storybuilding Edition ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘Real Steel’

By

Up on the menu today for this edition of the Trailer Trash Mash are two second trailers from upcoming Summer blockbuster films. Green Lantern and Real Steel both look like they are sizing up to be not only marketable movies, but good ones. Both these previews made me exponentially more excited to see both films. Both trailers feature an emphasis on story, and less like their predecessors which were action heavy. Hit the jump to check them out.

First up is Green Lantern. The trailer does not simply try to impress potential ticket buyers with special effects. It develops the back story of Hal Jordan becoming a Lantern. Check it out.

Let’s move on to Real Steel. This is a movie I started anticipating after seeing the first trailer. The concept and the accompanying visuals was really a blast to watch. As I stated in the opening, both trailers focus more on story — especially the Real Steel snippet. This preview unravels the relationship between Jackman and his son, and his past as a boxer. See below for robot boxing beat-downs.

The Green Lantern might just turn out to be a decent action flick. However, if you've ever read his comic, he sucks. A ring that does anything you want it to? Pleeeease!!! This is why DC sucks (- B. Wayne). All of there heroes have limitless powers, but are always in mortal danger. Superman has died like 3 times.

FINALLY!!!!! A director finally realizes that the rest of the work is absolutely sick of boxing movies. This one looks pretty cool, starring Wolvy and Lost's Queen Lilly. Ill definitely see this one.
