‘The Hobbit’ Films Get Official Titles and Release Dates
ByThis post is simple enough. Back in March rumored titles for Peter Jackson’s upcoming Hobbit films were leaked online. But were they legit? Now, we know for a fact the rumored titles were indeed correct, confirmed by a press release today. We learned from Warner Bros. the first film would be titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the follow up will get the title The Hobbit: There and Back. The first will hit theaters December 14th, 2012 and the second a year later on December 13th, 2013.
Great news right? Both films dropping in the Christmas season should equate to high box office earnings — consider slapping the LOTR taglines on this film and imagine the profits — especially if Jackson pumps out the product we all expect. If he does, could this mean more Oscar gold for the acclaimed director? Fitting release date for both films right, and almost exactly a year apart? Hopefully the Mayans are wrong about 2012 being the end so we don’t get screwed short of seeing these complimentary films.
Thoughts?
