Trailer Trash Mash: ‘The Hangover Part II’ and ‘Everything Must Go’
ByIn this edition of the Trailer Trash Mash we have two films that feature some very funny personalities. One stars Will Ferrell, the other stars Zach Galifinakis and Ed Helms. The movies in question are Everything Must Go and The Hangover Part II. Earlier this week I wrote a post highlighting the first poster for the anticipated sequel — I said the first trailer would be out later in the week, and lo and behold, here it is. Hit the jump to check out The Wolfpack back at it and Will Ferrell in a drama.
The Hangover, as some of you may know, was one of the highest grossing box office comedies of all-time. In no way did Warner Bros. think the Todd Phillips joint was going to make the kind of money it did. With a cash cow in hand, of course the studio is going to milk it for all its worth. In almost every regard the sequel looks the same as The Hangover, except this time in a new setting. The Wolfpack wakes up with no memory of what happened the night before, but wait, they’ve lost someone. They are racing against the clock to find a M.I.A. teen, using everything at their disposal like searching their pockets for clues to try and recall what happened the previous night. Sound familiar? Anyway, I’ll quit rambling. Watch it.
Pretty much the same right? Instead of losing the soon to be husband, this time around they lose the young brother of the bride to be. Instead of Stu waking up with his tooth pulled out, he wakes up with Mike Tyson warpaint freshly tattooed on his face. Instead of a stolen tiger in the bathroom, there is a monkey. The puzzle is incomplete until The Wolfpack can find all the pieces. I will definitely see it, but I am less excited to do so after this trailer. This comes across more as an attempt to make money than to make a good movie. Look for The Hangover Part II on May 26.
Next up we have a Will Ferrell movie called Everything Must Go. I don’t know much about this film, but when I saw the trailer I was motivated to make readers aware of it while coming to check out The Hangover Part II. The film debuted at TIFF last year and received some mixed, but mostly positive reviews. Looks like Ferrell is digging deeper to play a dramatic role. I’ll give him a chance, because this story looks interesting enough. And it has Rebecca Hall — I love her presence on the big screen. Consider me willing to check out Everything Must Go when it hits theaters May 13th.
