New 4-Minute ‘Green Lantern’ Footage Offers Hope, Promise
ByWarner Bros. has been nearly silent about their upcoming DC summer blockbuster Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reyonlds, over the last several months – and rightfully so. Back in November, comic-book and movie geeks alike were up-in-arms after the first trailer dropped, which featured some noticeably awful visual effects on display. The reason for which, is because WB, director Martin Campbell & Co. were not ready to show the footage, as the complex VFX still needed a lot of work. But a the standard release of blockbuster trailers dictates, they had to show us something. Fortunately, much time has past since then, and the WB effects crew has been hard at work refining all the space-fighting action, and more importatnly, the Green Lantern suit and mask. It’s starting to look pretty damn sweet, and this new four-minute clip, shown at WonderCon over the weekend, has restored hope for the film.
We get to see a lot action. A lot of aliens (including Mr. Geoffery Rush as Tomar-re). And just a lot of cool-looking shit. This is a comic-book movie featuring a heavy amount of sci-fi elements unlike anything we’ve seen before. The visusal effects still have some ways to go, but I am now officially on board with Green Lantern, opening everywhere in 3D on June 17th.
Check out the four-minute clip below (via First Showing).
Look pretty damn sweet, I think? What do you think? Does this clip have you excited now? How does Green Lantern stack up in your summer comic-book movie anticipation?
