HBO Releases Season Premiere Dates For Summer Shows
ByDisappointment lingers in the air during the end of Winter. Television season finales like Californication have come and gone, and in doing so have left us with a few weeks for our DVRs to FINALLY get the much needed rest they deserve. This disappointment won’t last because the arrival of Spring brings the chance to reconnect with our favorite characters from Summer shows. HBO announced the premiere dates for some of its upcoming Summer line up. Check the break for details.
HBO released its Summer line up today, and to say the least, I’m pretty pumped! I have to first mention the great HBO show Entourage. After eight years, this show is finally coming to an end. Everyone’s favorite circle of friends are coming back for their finale season this Summer. After the shit storm Vince created for himself during the seventh season, I cannot wait to see how the writers bring everything together and to discover what note they choose to end the series on. Entourage hits Sunday, July 24th.
Another HBO favorite True Blood returns for its fourth season which will consist of 12 episodes. Season three was chock-full of craziness! Vampire royalty, werewolves, fairies, werepanthers; the only thing missing were the witches. Oh wait… nope, creator Alan Ball has witches covered. Ball confirmed that witches will play a major part in the plot of the fourth season.
While I really like True Blood, and am looking forward to its premiere, I am a bit worried. If you didn’t already know, True Blood is based off The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, which Ball loosely centers each season around. While I myself have not read the books, my wonderful mother has. She’s filled me in on what is to come; I’m not sure if I like what I hear. Werepanthers and weretigers? Really? Okay, granted we’ve already seen the werepanthers in season three, but now I’ve learned they end up playing a much bigger role until the introduction to weretigers. Again, really? Once you start making up imaginary subspecies based on absolutely nothing only to fulfill your desire to add a “new” element to your story, I lose interest. Like I said, I’m a fan of the TV series, so I won’t jump ship just yet. The season four premiere of True Blood drops Sunday, June 26th.
Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm also comes back to HBO for it’s eighth season this summer. The 10 episode season returns Sunday, July 10th. Filming for this season has been mainly in New York City instead of the usual setting Los Angeles. It will also feature guest stars such as: Ricky Gervais, Wanda Sykes, Cheyenne Jackson and Michael J. Fox.
All in all, it should be a good summer for HBO. Also don’t forget to check out Game of Thrones, which airs Sunday, April 17th.
What Do You Think? Are You Excited For Entourage, True Blood, and Curb Your Enthusiasm?
