Video Spotlight: Michael C. Hall and ‘Black Swan’
ByI came across all three of these videos while browsing various entertainment websites earlier today. Since they all intrigued a movie fanatic like myself, I thought I would pass them along to the Movie Mash readers. One video is spotlighting the wonder digital effects can have on a film like Black Swan. The video shows the original shots juxtaposed against the final shots rendered with computer effects. It really is quite amazing what computers can do these days.
Also posted after the break are two videos surrounding Michael C. Hall. The first is a trailer for Peep World, a film starring Hall as well as other prominent actors from the film community. The latter actually has no Michael C. Hall at all (huh, I rhymed), but is a parody of my favorite television show Dexter. Hit the jump to see the videos.
Up first is an inside look at the effects used in Black Swan.
Next up is the trailer for Peep World, a movie about family so dysfunctional it makes The Osbournes look normal.
Here is a synopsis from Slashfilm:
The film centers around a dysfunctional Jewish family that turns on each other when its youngest member writes a bestselling book exposing all their most intimate secrets. Michael C. Hall, Sarah Silverman, Rainn Wilson and Ben Schwartz comprise the four main siblings, and they’re accompanied by such talents as Kate Mara, Taraji P. Henson, Judy Greer and Ron Rifkin as their father. Barry W. Blaustein (The Ringer) directs.
Ridiculously solid cast right? But apparently this film did not get rave reviews when it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, but the independent film distributor IFC picked Peep World up for exhibition, bringing the project to a theater near you. The film kind of looks like a mix between the hilarious show Arrested Development and the dramedy of Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums. Check it out.
Lastly, I wanted to spotlight a parody of the entire series of Dexter. The video “sums” of Dexter in 60 seconds like the show is really that basic. Granted, I could consider this insulting because the show is far more than just what this parody brings to the table. But I’ll take the mockery as humor; imitation is the best form of flattery. If you haven’t seen Dexter, don’t waste your time watching the video because the laughs will not tickle your fancy.
