Ferrell to Join the Cast of ‘The Office’

By

Today brings good news for fans of NBC’s The Office; funny guy Will Ferrell will be joining the cast later this season for a four episode arc. Check the break for details.

We learned today (via Geektyrant) Will Ferrell will be hitting the streets of Scranton appearing in four episodes of The Office later this season. Producers of the show are bringing Ferrell and Carell (both Anchorman co-stars) back together for a shot at a ratings boost for the end of the season.

Ferrell will be playing another Dunder Mifflin/Saber branch manager who is even more awkward and offbeat than Michael Scott. This should be interesting because I didn’t think you could get more awkward and offbeat than Michael, so I’m excited to see how it plays out.

Ferrell and Carell will be playing off the comedic prowess of the other until Carell’s departure from the show. This has been said to be four episodes sooner than fans had originally expected (the season finale), but don’t you worry, Ferrell will be sticking around for at least one more episode after Michael finishes his stint as Regional Manager of Dunder Mifflin.

This is big news for fans of The Office especially after we got the tidbit of information regarding Ricky Gervais reprising his character from the show’s UK version for a few episodes as well.

It sounds like the beginning of the end for The Office, but with the comedy power houses of Carell, Ferrell, and Gervais, I think we will be very pleased with the final outcome. The Office as of now still plans on coming back for an 8th season, but  in my opinion, The Office will never be the same without the difficult but lovable Michael Scott.

What Do You Think? Discuss.
