Two New Trailers for ‘The Fighter’
ByAnyone looking forward to seeing Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg play brothers in the upcoming film The Fighter will get a treat with the newest trailer that dropped yesterday. I wrote a post about the second trailer that hit the web in October, and now the third is up to bat with the film now only weeks away from release. Hit the jump to see the trailer, and some encouraging words about the movie from filmmaker Spike Jonze.
First, check out the newest trailer. Then stick around for a word from Jonze.
This trailer is definitely faster paced than the first two and also shows more of the boxing elements involved in the film. The movie after all is called, The Fighter. But the trailer really got my heart pumping with the thundering bass timed with some of the hay-maker punches. Couple that with the dramatic elements of the movie like the girlfriend Amy Adams and the problematic brother Bale, and you have a strong mix looking to measure up to a solid film. I am definitely pumped for the day I get to check out this movie.
Spike Jonze, director of Being John Malkovich and Where the Wild Things Are, saw the film a few weeks ago. He has nothing but praise for The Fighter. Jonze sent an email to Slashfilm Editor in Chief Peter Sciretta advocating the film and asking Peter to post a trailer on his site to stir up buzz. While Jonze does describe director of The Fighter David O. Russell as his friend, I think his nod of approval can only be seen as a plus. I am not sure he would have went to the trouble to send the email unless he felt strongly The Fighter was a solid flick.
The Fighter gets a limited release December 10th, and gets a nationwide release December 17th.
