Trailer Trash MASH: Dreamworks Robot Edition
BySome may think the Transformers: Dark of the Moon teaser trailer deserves its own post, but I thought the correlation between the Michael Bay sequel and Real Steel was too strong not to combine them. Not only are both movies concocted by Dreamworks, both feature gigantic machines squaring off in epic robotic duels. Hit the jump to see the two teaser trailers for the films.
The Real Steel teaser actually impressed me enough to include it alongside the very well made Transformers: Dark of the Moon teaser. The concept for Real Steel, teamed with the off and on Hugh Jackman, really didn’t spell success initially to me. But after seeing the teaser coupled with the refined visuals, I was sold on this idea and this movie enough to be excited and to pass the trailer along to the Movie Mash readers. While robot boxing may seem far fetched, shows like Robot Wars have had plenty of success on television in the past. Real Steel is set in the not so distant future, and the robots are far more advanced than the radio controlled crap seen on Robot Wars.
Another reason to see Real Steel is the absolutely stunning Evangeline Lilly. Many of you know Lilly from her prolific role as Kate Austen on LOST. She hasn’t had much time on the big screen minus a few minor roles, so hopefully this is her breakthrough — I love looking into those vibrant green eyes. Real Steel is directed by Shawn Levy (Date Night) and was written for the screen by John Gatins.
Anyway, check out the teaser for Real Steel and see if your interest is sparked similar like mine. The film is set to hit theaters October 2011.
Ok, moving on to what you have all been waiting for. The anticipated teaser for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. This is a pretty big deal for me because I loved Transformers as a kid, thought the first Transformers was dynamite, and thought Revenge of the Fallen was hogwash for the most part (gettin’ all pirate on ya). So what should we expect from this third installment? Something similar to the first, or to the second? Hopefully the former. Anyway, after seeing the teaser my heart was definitely pumping. So before I blab more, just check it out.
Wow right? The idea of the astronauts using the “black out” to go explore the moon away from the eye of the media is something that really piques my interest. I love when movies incorporate real events into a fictionalized story; it sometimes makes the fiction seem more realistic. Of course it isn’t, but I always love when some history is thrown into the mix. The robot featured at the end of the teaser is likely Alpha Trion, one of the original thirteen Transfomers. While that has not been confirmed, that is the name circling the internet rumor mill (plus the robot looks very similar to the one drawn in the cartoon who also landed on the moon).
Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits theaters July 1st, 2011.
