‘Thor’ Trailer Drops
ByJust a few days ago we posted the first official teaser poster for Marvel’s Thor, and an initial negative reaction of the film’s 3D version of the trailer that can be seen in front of Tron: Legacy this week. That trailer is now officially online in HD and I am cautiously optimistic. I don’t know anything about Thor, so I’m not going to try and breakdown the inaccuracies from the comic-book, and what should/should not be in this trailer as a result. I’m just going to post it for your viewing pleasure, and let us know your thoughts.
Check it out.
The official plot synopsis of Thor goes something like this:
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
I think it looks pretty decent. Definitely a more unique comic-book film than what’s come out thus far from Marvel, in terms of set design, costumes, imagery and mythology. I don’t know how the hell they’re going to cinematically connect these different Marvel worlds for The Avengers, but I’m cautiously optimistic about Thor. Although I do think the punch/kick sound effects in this trailer are a tad over-the-top.
Thor hits theaters May 6th, 2011 in 2D and 3D. The latter format of course will ultiamately be the deciding factor of its success or failure.
