Mel Gibson to Appear in ‘The Hangover 2’?

By

Pretty sweet picture, huh? Anyway, in the midst of his personal meltdown, that I surely don’t need to re-cap, Mel Gibson is still getting some work that could possibly be the first step in his professional recovery. The New York Post’s Page Six is reporting (via E!) that Gibson has inked a deal to appear in the sequel to The Hangover, currently titled The Hangover 2, as a Bangkok tattoo artist; Bangkok, Thailand is the setting for the film. I don’t know about you, but regardless of his psychotic, misogynistic, racist behavior, I’m totally on board with this.

A source told Page Six the following about Gibson’s role:

It’s a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October.

As you all know, Mike Tyson’s famous cameo in the first film somewhat reinvigorated his troubled image, even allowing him to make an appearance in the sequel. So perhaps a well-executed comedic cameo in a sure-fire hit franchise sequel, could go a long way for the millions of Gibson/movie fans who have written him off. Regardless of what you think of him, no one can deny that Gibson is an extremely talented actor and filmmaker, so maybe getting back to what he does best can help whatever personal demons he’s trying to exorcise. As stated above, The Hangover 2 is currently in production, with a slated release date of May 26, 2011.

I think it could have been a redeeming and funny part for him. Also I heard Liam Neeson took over his cameo
