Bumblebee Gets Injured on ‘Transformers 3’ Set
ByDon’t think for one second that Bumblebee, one of the prominent members of the Autobots, isn’t in real danger while filming his stunts for Transformers: The Dark of the Moon. The transforming yellow Camaro was rushed off to the hospital, err – the mechanic – after sustaining injuries due to a collision with a real police vehicle on set Monday afternoon. The best part about the whole incident is that it was all caught on tape! Hit the jump to see the video.
Of course I am just kidding, Bumblebee wasn’t rushed to the mechanic, but was simply replaced by one of the back up yellow Camaros on set. And yes, I know (kind of) that Bumblebee isn’t real and just comes to life with the magic of movies. Straying away from the make believe ambiance that movies like Transformers bring, yet another accident took place on the third Transformers set.
While filming a scene Monday, a police vehicle cut through a closed street to respond to an emergency call and collided with the famous yellow Autobot in the middle of the street. Even better than that, a local television crew, MyFoxDC, caught the accident on tape. But enough of me yapping, let’s check out Bumblebee ramming into the police vehicle like the cop was a Decepticon.
The Washington D.C. police department released this statement:
Earlier today, a MPD marked cruiser responding to an emergency assignment, collided with a vehicle involved in the filming of a movie at Third Street and Maryland Avenue, SW. The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. No civilian injuries have been reported. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the facts of the crash and filming of this movie on closed DC city streets has been suspended until safety procedures can be reviewed.
Persons keeping up with movie news over the past years would remember this isn’t the first injury surrounding the franchise. An extra sustained brain damage during an accident on set in September and now she has filed a lawsuit against the production. Who can forget Shia LaBeouf getting seriously hurt during the production of Revenge of the Fallen? Add yesterday’s accident to the pile and I think it is safe to assume Michael Bay is cursed (and not just because he is generally a crappy filmmaker).
Crazy right? If you didn’t watch the whole video, the cop was fine but was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. As you can see, Bumblebee sustained most of the damage. Poor guy, he looked so much tougher in the movies. I hope no one tells Sam Whitwicky his car, acting as his protector, is really a fragile wuss.
