J.J. Abrams Teaming Up with Jonah Nolan for New Crime-Thriller TV Series?
BySooo, is this an automatic green-light, home-run, A+ money-maker, or what? Entertainment Weekly is reporting (via Nolan Fans) that J.J. Abrams is “currently shopping around” a new TV series created by Christopher Nolan’s brother, Jonathan “Jonah” Nolan. Uh, why isn’t the news that they’ve already started casting and scouting filming locations? I mean, we have J.J. Abrams, the guy who created LOST and directed Star Trek, working with the guy who co-wrote Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight and is currently writing the script for Batman 3; who also happens to be of the same blood line as Christopher Nolan. WTF, TV networks?!?! That has to be one of the most pedigreed, inventive and creative collaborations in recent memory. Just do it, already!
No word yet on what the actual plot of the series would be, other that it would be in the “crime-thriller” genre. And as Nolan has proven with his past work, I think it’s safe to say he “gets” that kind of storytelling. The report did say that, according to an insider, one network is “extremely interested” in the project. Personally, as I’m loving the peaking credibility and envelope-pushing that’s going on with Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, I’d love to see this show find a home at AMC. Fingers crossed!
