Wowzers! James Cameron Personally Netted $350m From Avatar, Film to be Re-Released in August

As Avatar commandingly holds the record for highest-grossing movie of all time (not counting inflation), I’m sure a lot of people might be wondering what kind of money James Cameron earned from his blue behemoth of a film. Well according to Deadline, Cameron brought in a whopping $350 million for himself. The bulk of that cash is due to his gross percentage deal with Fox, where he would net a certain percentage of the film’s box-office earnings. Not a bad deal. Plus the film’s DVD and Blu-Ray sales set records all over the place, adding to Mr. Cameron’s massive pay day.

And adding to this ever-increasing vat of cash that would make Scrooge McDuck red with envy, the New York Times is reporting that Fox will be re-releasing Avatar on August 27th for a two-week run, but only on Imax 3D screens. I saw it twice in Imax, and it was amazing. Perhaps I’ll go see a movie I’ve seen several times in theaters, AGAIN, because there’s pretty much nothing else better to go and see right now at the multiplex, besides Inception.
